The Bear-folk

Me grandsons and their old granda enjoyed a fine fishin' expedition filled with many questions asked and few answers given. The fish weren't bitin' particularly well, but we caught enough for a supper supplemented with lots o' vegetables from me garden. After supper it were time for a story by the hearth.

Deorla did not have to search long.

Sereg had chosen his ground with the instinct of a born commander — and she recognized it immediately. His base lay cradled in a bowl of blackened stone near Anglach, the mountains rising steeply on all sides like clenched fists. Only a single road led inward, narrow and steep, choked with sharpened wooden stakes and iron-spiked barricades. Watchtowers rose at measured intervals, each manned and alert. Fires burned low and disciplined, never flaring high enough to betray their numbers.

After the successful event of napping 'n snacks at the Seasonal Grand Opening of the Bartunnel Cider Mill, Nomo took a rest around the property and wondered what Shroomy was doing. It was then that a scenery unfolded before him, and he rushed back home to open up his old parcels, preparations for this painting.
