Eregion Journal Entry 1: Introduction

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary

I awoke to the soft sound of rain pattering on my cloth tent. As I arose, the early morning sun was just creeping over the horizon, and I felt reassured about my current task. It has been 5 months since my last entry in my journal, concerning Forochel, and now again I set off to ensure the stability of the land.

On the Right of Free Peoples to Self-Rule

((This work was written by Angamaranwë in Eregion, at a time when the Noldorin land was ruled by Galadriel and Celeborn. Because of his part in the Third Kinslaying, the lord and lady were hostile to Angamaranwë, leading him to write the following treatise. Its arguments were accepted in Eregion, where Galadriel and Celeborn were soon replaced with Celebrimbor.

Once the anthill has been disturbed it isn't going to just lay to rest. The gates have been closed. No, if you would have asked yesterday, they would be closed. The gates are reinforced. Not even a raging troll could break them down now. Yet the half-orcs of Mudhlas Cadhus were not dealing with a troll right now. That would have been a small problem compared to this. The camp was quiet. The soldiers were already calling it the silence before the storm. Their leaders? They called it their last chance of adverting the coming onslaught.

Gwanûr,

a chance encounter in Eregion

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story
Laurelindo was sitting on the riverbank, playing an old battered harp that saw better days, concentrating so much on his music that a sound nearby startled him... And caused him to slide in the water, the young elf's first reflex being not to hold on to the dry land but to save his harp from falling in with him.

Eregion, A Lifetime Ago

Tyulussë took one of the plants from the basket and passed it on to his companion.

“This is called yarrow.

It was a pretty thing, small snow-white flowers clustered at the end of a long leafy stem.  The other elf hesitated a moment before taking it, and then simply stared at it, clearly wondering why he was being asked to hold the flower.

“Oh.”

“Easy enough to find.  The flowers may be yellow as well.”

Diary

I have not enjoyed my time in Eregion.

I know, I know. My father (much less my grandfather) would be horrified, I am sure, to learn that I am less than pleased with my exploration of this place. Yet I cannot help it. The land itself is beautiful, but there is something strange about it--something eerie and echoing, at least to my mind, something empty and sad.

The Gate of Feanor, more commonly known in the 3rd Age as the Door of Durin, forms the entrance to the ancient dwarven city of Khazad-dum, that has long since been overrun by goblins and orcs. Now it is named Moria - meaning "dark pit" - by the elves, as it is no longer a shining cultural hub, but a dark tomb for the dwarves and their folly - Durin's Bane. It is commonly heard, that they "delved too greedily, and too deep" for mithril when they unearthed the Balrog of Morgoth, and rightfully so. The Dwarves may be great miners and blacksmiths...

How can I question?  So, here, among the white stones of the ancient watch of Gwingris, enclosed by the bones of the very last fortress in all of Eregion, the last to submit to the black orcs of Sauron - here, my noble commander, sets a special detail... on a case of sausages.
