The sun sets for yet another rainy day in Bree-land. Relentless rain floods the cracked cobbles of Bree, a smooth symphony of pitter-patter and a gentle splashing on the soft town soil. The shopkeepers hurriedly gather their wares in their carts after a long day of practicing the sacred art of negotiation and haggling, even if it were cut short by the wrath of the elements.

It had been Daph's first night staying at the inn in Dale. She was tired, irritable and homesick. On top of this, the inn was poorly built and every movement seemed to make the wood creak, which somehow added to her annoyance. But...she knew if she did not eat before laying down to sleep, she would regret it in the morning.

The Sword and Sickle Wayhouse, an inn in the White Mountains in Rohan, is a public house offering bed and board to long-term and short-term guests. It offers meals to guests and visitors three times a day, with Sundays offering a grand supper that is open to all.

Judyht was turning with her full cup when she stopped abruptly, looking sharply at him. She eyed the cat suspiciously, wondering if she should trust the feline's judgment to be so familiar. She strode over, but didn't sit. She had layers of smell to her, but not like a cook. Underneath there was something unpleasant, something acrid and medicinal. The aromas were incongruous, like she was wearing an elaborate outfit of which none of the pieces matched.

In an unassuming corner of the village of Ewall there is a small community of Hobbits. Like the Hobbits of the Shire they keep themselves to themselves and try to avoid any fuss or unrest and like the Hobbits of the Shire they also enjoy music, dancing, gossip, good food and ale and the company of other Hobbits.
