The Gate of Feanor, more commonly known in the 3rd Age as the Door of Durin, forms the entrance to the ancient dwarven city of Khazad-dum, that has long since been overrun by goblins and orcs. Now it is named Moria - meaning "dark pit" - by the elves, as it is no longer a shining cultural hub, but a dark tomb for the dwarves and their folly - Durin's Bane. Day XXIII continued
I saw a circle of anxious faces
‘You’ve taken a blow to the head.’
Said Kandral, ‘So just lay there, quite still,’
‘I don’t know how you’re not dead!’
Then I pulled off my cap to show underneath
On top of my bushy black hair,
