The embassy to the Galadhrim has not long to rest at Mekhem-bizru before setting out once more before dawn, headed down the course of the Silverlode to Lothlorien. As before, Seregrían and Bosi ride together in front of their escort, hoping the display of Elf and Dwarf riding in league may speed their passage into the Golden Wood.

All is now ready for Seregrían to accompany Bosi on their errand to Lothlorien, seeking the aid of the Galadhrim in this desperate hour. But to reach this point took two days’ preparation, and it could not be avoided or sped up.

          The Grey Company rides on, passing through the largely deserted Eregion and entering Enedwaith, the lands between the ancient kingdoms of the Dunedain, now long gone to grass and rubble. Though the kingdoms are no more, the lands are not without those who call these home.

         In the vast halls of Moria, time passes differently from the world of sunlight.

            The Grey Company prepares to depart on its desperate errand, for in two nights they shall leave the Hidden Valley and strike south, following in the footsteps of the Nine Walkers. With the company of the Dunedain ride the sons of Elrond, who are desirous to go to the war.

            As Seregrían toils in her torment, a message arrives for her at Torech Besruth from someone she did not expect to hear from – for Arwen Undomiel bids her to return in haste to Rivendell and find her there. Swiftly the Elf-scholar departs and makes her way to the Hidden Valley once more.

           Seregrían recalls that for three days and nights, she huddled near a fire fed only by scant wood and her staff’s power, watching over Gwathwethil as the wounded morroval healed herself from within. The she-bat slept a great deal, waking only to sate her hunger with the raw flesh of wolf and ice-drake that Seregrían provided.
