The Harvestmath Ball went on as splendidly as I could have hoped for. I couldn't find a band to play, and so there was not much dancing to my lone harp, but aside from that, I was very pleased with the results. Mister Leoffrith came without Lumina, which was very disappointing to me, but he said she had gotten sick and couldn't make it. Poor thing. Thistle also refused to come, stating that she just didn't want to. I think she's still upset about that boy and just won't say so, and I'm afraid she would've started a brawl had she run into that woman.
I was very pleased and surprised to find that Mister Dimheim had accepted my invitation and even brought a friend, though I suppose I shouldn't be. It is rude to ignore an invitation, after all. Remdir his friend said he was, and I quite liked him. I thought that his costume was very clever. I tried not to bother them too much, because I reckoned they wanted to be off to the side by themselves, but wanted to make sure I spoke with everyone equally. I asked Dimheim where his friend had gone, and I think maybe he mistook my question and said that he'd have Remdir come along to the Inn. I didn't know what to make of that. I was very embarrassed.
Masters Maurr and Maddoct came, and there was another hobbit that I did not get a chance to speak to. I think she must have only had the time or energy to pop in for a bit, and one cannot be blamed for that. Miss Gustine was very lovely, and the hobbit she was courting split the pie-eating contest prize with Maddoct. I should have expected that no one could beat a hobbit or a dwarf at an eating contest! Sage picked Maurr's corsair costume as the winner, though I think I would have chosen the White Knight. Gregwald had also made an appearance, but I did my best to ignore him. It wouldn't do to cause a ruckus at my own party, no one would ever come back for another.
The night ended not too long after that. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves except for that one snooty noble that disappeared in the middle of the ball, but I don't think anyone missed him. I had a chance to sit down and speak with Dru and I found myself very fond of her company. I hope I have made many friends to come, and I'm very excited to begin planning the next ball - hopefully with more dancing.
