Songs of Brethilimbar

Author:
Tavelorn Silverbranch collected these verses, which OOC are my original work.

Songs of the Elves of Brethilimbar na Lhûn, either of their own making or records made of verse collected by them from Elves seeking the Havens, that they might be remembered on the Hither Shores.

OOCly, these are my own feeble attempt at versification in Sindarin.

Changing the World

Poetry
How can I change all the world
When I can't even change my small garden?
And I struggle to get out of bed
Each time the sun brings in the morning
What change to this world can I make?
What steps can a small lad now take?

But it is said the longest of journeys
Always starts with the smallest of steps
So I'll set out this day once again
And this time I will not forget
Through my deeds I can hope to inspire
And bring light to the land of the Shire

Don't Give Up!

in
What kind of Adventure is this?:
Poetry

The hill is tall, so tall and steep
So wearing on those little feet
And long the path you have to tread
And thoughts of quitting fill your head
But you know that you must reach the top
You know it would not do to stop
And each step takes you to the sky
Although it hurts, you still must try
Don't give up!

Harpist

A lonely Harpist

Resting on a bank,

Tired, Worried, Numb

Her harp in her lap,

Eyes on the Moon,

her Song on the wind.

A Boring Poem

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Poetry

I'm feeling quite bored
I don't know what to do
I'm twiddling my fingers
And all my toes too
Outside it is raining
I'm stuck fast inside
And it's really quite boring
Many things I have tried

I stare out the window
I stare at the floor
I would read a book
But I've read it before
I would find my duster
And get housework all done
But I did it last month
And it's really no fun

                                      A gathering by the fire.

Unable to rest, Barangolf and Tinurendis' chat around the fire turns into a silly, impromptu poetry party. They are joined by Brasseniel and Luthelian of Vanimar whose good company left them with uplifted hearts and their anxieties quelled. For the first time since arriving in Imladris, they felt like themselves again.

A Poem about Differences

in
What kind of Adventure is this?:
Poetry

There, sat at a back
Is a lad with long hair
It's down to his legs
As he's sat in the chair
And all of us stare
But why should we care
If he has long hair?

And there is a lass
Who is dressed all in grey
Her clothes are quite drab
And all the folk say
"Oh, why dress that way?"
But why should they care
If that's what she wears
