The fight against the Shadow has gone on all of Heriwulf's life, and the life of his father, and his father's father, and back beyond the memory of the oldest tellers of tales amongst the Woodmen. It has cost the Woodmen too much. Heriwulf has seen friends and allies fall, both Woodmen, and the hounds he tames and trains. It is hard to know which is worse. He has learned how to salve the wounds of both man and beast, and still he takes up spear and axe when he must.

Two years ago, he and others of his tribe escorted Radagast west over the Misty Mountains, to a ruin in the Lone-lands. Staying nearby, he and the others founded a small settlement tucked into the edges of the Chetwood, and have lived there since, keeping to themselves.
