-Here. Said Dawn and dropped another stack of parchments on the bed next to Fiontann. The man looked up at her and let out a sigh.
-What's this? I've filled two stacks already and I am halfway through the third.
-We just got a report for speeding through Trestlebridge too. Scared the folks, caused damage, what you did in Bree but in a smaller scale.
-We were in a hurry...
-And this is the price of a hurry. Said Dawn and walked out of the cell.
-At least it's quiet in here. Said Fiontann.
Watchers were coming in and out of the jailhouse, Fion was too busy writing and drinking in the only empty cell he had taken up in order to fill all the forms concerning yesterday's events. Attempted arson, speeding through Bree and causing trouble, fighting, barging in the Scholar's Stair, beating up of a young man and a young woman missing, not to mention the fright and worry of her father when the company rushed into the Scholar's Stair. He sent the others away in order to get some air and rest and he stayed there to fill the papers. Every now and then he'd look up and talk to Dawn who was in her stall doing her work.
-You know, we didn't burn anything. Those men threw in something that made a smoke and put us to sleep. We didn't cause it.
-There was fire when we arrived.
-It wasn't us!
-I'm working. You'll finish that and you will tell us what happened later.
-But I am already writing it.
-I don't care. It's the rules.
-We're wasting time!
-We have Watchers out there, it's safe.
-Yeah, we saw what good they did...
-What?
-Nothing, I'm saying that I am making a good description of the events.
The woman shook her head and looked down at her parchments sand went on working. It took Fion all morning and afternoon to finish. He told them what happened the day before and a set of course was decided.
-And you know us, we wouldn't do such a thing.
-Yes but rules are rules...
-I know, and I didn't spend a night in jail as a sellsword, yet I did now!
There is a general uproar in Bree after the incident at that house in the first morning hours. The Watch has overdoubled the guards and the patrols are now more frequent around the town, each patrol consists of three Watchers instead of one or two. Every person and cart or wagon has to be searched thoroughly before leaving or entering the town and one or two of them are still investigating the scene where Betsy Willow, Dalton Willow's daughter was taken from.
The Black Steel has set up a temporary command post at the Mess Hall in the town and Fiontann will coordinate the investigations of the company in the town from there, being in constant communication with the Watch.
The general message sent to The Thirsty Boar and all the members was to get to the Mess Hall as soon as possible and form a plan of action to search throughout Bree and to plan their next move.
