Thundering Reappearance

It all started in the form of two red lights in the distance. The people that were gathered on Amon Raith turned their heads East to look at those two lights. They seemed to move at a tremendous speed, nothing humane at it. It seemed to have appeared from somewhere North of the hills on the Eastern side of the North Downs and was moving fast Southwest, right towards the farms of Kingsfell. The people watched with their breath cut, it was late at night and the most of the lights of the farms went out, signifying that the farmers went to rest. Same as Annundir that was being rebuilt slowly. Most of the folk on Amon Raith were guards that kept an eye out over Annundir and Trestlebrige, those two being the closest to the hill, but now something was heading towards Kingsfell and they couldn’t do anything about it. Only watch.

It all started with the loud sounds of thundering approaching the farms from the East. The farmers that heard it first thought that it was a thunderstorm on its way, they found it odd because the sky was clear all day but that’s how nature is. They stayed in their beds or on the sofa next to the fireplace with the well-deserved mug of ale after a day’s hard work in the fields and waiting for the rain to reach them. But it never did.

The folk on the hill watched the lights move towards the farms and stop in the middle of the farms, one or two lights appeared here and there, probably from the houses. There was a moment of silence and then the screams of the farmers reached the ears of the folk on Amon Raith. Within moments a fire started to spread and all they could see and hear was fire and screams, screams of men, screams of women, screams of children. Their blood ran cold. They watched, their faces blank, their mouths voiceless, their brains numb. Until the screams died down and the two red lights started moving again, this time towards them, along the path from what they reckoned. Everyone gathered on the ruins, with any kind of weapons that they had and they waited there.

The red lights approached and with them came the thundering. It went on, past Amon Raith. They people feared that they were heading towards Trestlebridge but the sounds and the lights disappeared as abruptly as they appeared. They stayed awake all night.

The next day they went to the farms only to find ruins and dead farmers, some skinned and hanging on the walls, others burnt with expressions of horror and others just slain. Some of them were mauled.

One man was still alive, barely alive, his limbs were burnt, he was dying of shock.

-The thunderlights. He was muttering repeatedly and died.

-We have to inform Bree. Said one of the men. A rider turned his horse West and rode all day.
