The sky was dark and cloudy, and Katrandil was making her way to Imladris alone, clad in nothing but some rags that made her look like a Dunlending. How she came to the possession of them, no-one knows. With nothing but the shards of a broken sword and a pouch of water, she was trying to find shelter in the night.
An elf scout in the service of Ornessar spotted her not so far away from the gate of Rivendell and, thinking she was one of that hostile people, he took her to Ornessar's former stronghold in Ardholen, now known as Delossad or Sithad in the Third Age, and kept her there until Lord Elrond and the rest of the council were done with their meeting in the Last Homely House. When the meeting ended, Lord Elrond and Ornessar headed to the main hall of the House and the scout brought the woman to them. The Elf-Lord immediately recognized her heritage because of her facial characteristics and let her pass to Rivendell unharmed, and ordered Ornessar to accompany her to Nos Ornessë and the armoury, to provide her with food, drink, armour, and clothes, and so he did.
Upon entering Nos Ornessë, Katrandil met some of Ornessar's family, and they provided her with lots of food and drink. Katrandil was shy, but in the end, she enjoyed the hospitality of the Elves, even though she was born for the wilderness. Later on, Ornessar and Katrandil spent a big part of the day talking to one another, and he later reforged her broken sword. And since that day, they became close friends. But neither of them had foreseen all that would happen in the future...
