Welcome To The Laurelin Community !

People, Kins and Alliances across the land are joining forces to showcase the best Laurelin has to offer - the ‘We Stand Together’ initiative calling communities to stand together and welcome new people that may decide to call Laurelin 'home' and join us.

We all have a responsibility to encourage community cohesion and positive and inclusive attitude, we hope communities and Kins will stand together against hatred and intolerance and news of evil stirring in the east.

'Showcase all that is good about your community'

Mayor Will Whitfoot of Michel Delving said “During my mayoral term I have been overwhelmed by requests from various local and business to to showcase all that is good about the Shire. The Hobbit community of Laurelin has been working hard ( well as hard as 6 meals a day allow) to create a welcoming environment for everyone that wish to come and settle among us. All new hobbits are welcome to come and join us at the Green Dragon every Friday, or at the Hobbit Market every two weeks. We print our newspaper The Bramblebury Gazette, free copies of which are always available in my office. Next month we will celebrate the annual Bard Day with a nice concert and a party at The Ivy Bush in Hobbiton. Last, but not least I am pleased to announced we just opened a beautiful public park in Michel Delving filled with the best flowers and shrubs of the Forufarthings. Several concerts are also scheduled at The Bird and Baby Inn - a weekly party is hosted there every Thursday. Upcoming concerts  include The Crazy Ladies of The Forest, then a week later The Maidens of Vanimor,  followed by The Travelling Bilberries  in September.

In Bree Mayor Graeme Tenderlarch said " We have worked in partnership with the local law enforcement to launch the 'Safe In Bree' initiative which was created after residents, workers and business owners said they were unhappy with the negative publicity the town sometimes receives. These vital members of our community wanted to highlight the many positives which exist but fail to be recognized or celebrated. The Prancing Pony remains the focal point of life in Bree. Here one can not only sample nice food and great ale, but also  listen to music, meet new people, and listen t the latest gossip. The Comb and Wattle  Tavern in Combe, just outside town is always open, and we have also built a brand new stage at the Festival Grounds to provide musicians and entertainers a new space to perform.

Dwalin, son of Fundin, Master of Thorin’s Hall said : " For Durin's Beard ...I believe this initiative will allow everyone to publicly express their support and pride in their community. We will soon run the Harnkegger Games for the 4th year running and we are looking forward to welcome all to our Halls. The dwarves are a welcoming and jolly bunch, we all stand together in unity at the forefront of celebrating differences via community cohesion, hard work and tolerance...and lots of Ale, Tales and Riddles, of course. Like the hobbit community we also have our local newspaper called  Tablets of Khazadgund , free copies are widely available in the Halls"

Lord Elrond Halfelven of Rivendell on behalf of all Elves said : “ Rivendell and Lindon have a long and proud tradition of celebrating differences among our kin and others and sets a positive example to the rest of the world, which we are immensely proud of. Elven lands are a great place and we need to think about what we have going for us more often. We have a great deal to celebrate, exceptional transport links, an economy that’s growing, stunning countryside and special people. We are proud of our diversity, but equally proud of what brings us together – this wonderful place that is rediscovering its magic and soul - Elves will always welcome all in their halls, we meet weekly in the Hall of Fire. Every Wednesday doors are open, food and wine are free, and the Elves are happy to meet anyone that comes in peace and friendship...and yes, this includes the hobbits. Rivendell is also a place of learning and study, here the Laurelin Archives are kept in order and always open to all the Free People of Middle-earth. You will meet many foes, some open, and some disguised; and you may find friends along your way when you least look for it.”

‘We Stand Together’ is a remarkable initiative,  not as many communities but as one, with one kind voice we welcome all the new travelers that will decide to settle on our land. Opening our halls to people that may have different traditions and stories, even different names that may sound strange to us, but that are important to them.

Welcome to the Laurelin Community !
