A Hobbit's Journal - Froggy The Frog Of Overhill

"ribbit"  "ribbit" I am a frog, I live  just outside Overhill by a lovely pond. Over the years I have seen many young hobbits grow up  from tiny shirelings into young lads  or lasses."ribbit"  I have witnessed  countless of time Master Ardo asking Miss Inula in marriage...I promise you, one day we will see this wedding happening, their love seems to last forever in one single moment of bliss "ribbit" . So yes...I am Froggy the frog of Overhill, the name was given to me by a  wee hobbit lass when she was about three years old. She could not really talk properly and Froggy was one of her first words. She used to live in the big house across the pond with her parents....cute little thing she was,  clear pale green eyes and golden  rebellious curls tied into pigtails "ribbit"

Over the years she grew up into a young lass and even moved away from Overhill but sometime she comes back to visit, which is always nice , although often when she comes she is sad. So I just sit there next to her "ribbit"  in the hope to see a wee smile coming up. As a matter of facts, I have seen her recently. She came  to say ‘hullo’. I am a frog, what do I know about lasses and love ..well I know Ardo and Inula *sigh* for carrots sake, I tell you..if that lad does not marry her soon I will go mad...how many time yer going to ask her, Ardo ? Do the right thing lad, just do it so I can be here on me rock without having to see you on yer knee every given day of the year "ribbit" "ribbit"

It must be contagioulous this thing , I dunno, maybe is the beauty of Overhill or maybe the legend of the Perfect Pebbles, or maybe it is this wee pond in the woods surrounded by flowers "ribbit"   Last night I was having a swim quietly under the stars when I  thought I heard some voices - first things that came to mind was : “ Here we go...Ardo is at it again....” so I kept swimming trying to ignore the whispering  and giggling   but as I looked where usually Ardo and Inula are, I did not see them "ribbit" "ribbit"  this was most queer. I did hide in the tall reeds and looked towards the shore, under the willow tree. Two hobbits were standing there , facing each other, talking softly, holding hands. The stars were shining bright in the night sky, reflecting in the clear water. A cold winter night...so why was I not feeling cold ? Maybe is because I am a frog, what do I know about these things "ribbit" "ribbit"  I am not sure what happened there, what was said, but it must have been quite a conversation I think. I am  just a frog really, anyhow I hope  this is not going to become a tradition here...I need  to do my froggy things , yer know...like eating flies and... more flies "ribbit" "ribbit"
