Unexpected Encounters

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

How does one react when faced with a legend from a past Age?

Had one of the Princes crested the rise, garbed in ichor splattered, unassumingly rough gear, and with rusted weaponry that looked as if he had merely picked it up from the ground, I could hardly have been more surprised.

As it turned out the arrival was most timely, as I was near Nan Dhelu, surrounded by reanimated corpses.

The party of five Eglain did not look that happy to see Ceuro and I approach from the west.

Breelands to the Lonelands.

Story

The young Perian sat beside the river, his dark green cloak wrapped around him against the frosty chill-before-dawn. At his side was an empty wicker basket, and a fishing rod lain in a position that suggested he had had not yet attempted to catch his breakfast. Indeed, the hour was still too young for a successful attempt to catch fish. Mayhap it was simply his wish to be alone with his thoughts? He looked up as we drew nigh, then rose to his feet in rather a hurry. He may not have been able to make out our features, but he obviously ‘knew’ what we were.

Someone is watching?

Ceuro swung from the saddle of his dark bay mount, and moved stealthily to the edge of the woodland. His sense of being observed had grown stronger since they had broken camp. Danger? A trap? He was not certain.

Turning back to his companion, he shook his head.

"I see nothing untoward, Lady Danel. But our horses are also wary." the dark haired ellon's hand hovered momentarily over his sword hilt.

Narquelion

Author:

Our folk are in the autumn of our days here. For those who choose to remain, I hope it is yet a long and glorious autumn. But winter is inevitable. It is almost time for all the Noldor who will, to depart.

“The scroll that Lelyar gave you before we departed, it shows sites where Noldor artifacts may be found, Lady Danel?”

We were riding at a walk up the winding path of the steep incline of the Tower Hills. Both our mounts were in excellent condition, used to travelling long distances, but even they could not easily manage such a hill at a trot.

I cast a glance at my companion. Ceuro had been quiet since we began the assent. Though he still appeared in a good humour, it was clear something was on his mind.

Forlond to Mithlond

Story

We departed Forlond at dusk.

Riding up the incline from Tum Escal, I took one look back. I knew of Lelyar’s concerns regarding Ceuro. Was I right to hold them so lightly? I consoled myself with the conditions I had set upon him. Ceuro would leave me before I left the Lone Lands. Let that be enough to satisfy his sense of honour.

The turn of the Tide

I remained on the quayside as the evening deepened and the stars shone bright overhead.

The turning of the tide?

Indeed it was for my grandmother, taking the Straight Road home. It was for me, also. My life would change considerably in the coming days. That was the moment I knew all would change.

Preparations

Story

Aearlinn returned from Forlond by mid afternoon.

Although she had delivered the boxed scabbard for Earcalie to the soon-to-depart fish merchant, she had been unable to find a swifter courier to carry my letters, she said.

Now Arnone, Serewen and I were at the stables at that point, checking my mare was full ready for the journey. Arnone had supplied provisions enough for me to reach Echad Candelleth, and two water skins. Serewen had been making final suggestions as to my riding gear.

Turuhalme, in Times Past.

The solstice is two days past.

No celebration of Turuhalme this year for me, alas. I am at the edge of the Lone Lands, with only Ceuro as guard and companion, and he at my insistence to return to Forlond in the morn. I alone shall ride ahead to Eregion.

The air is fresh, but not cold. There has been no snowfall as yet. Not here. But I remember...times past, times of recent yeni and of those further back...

The Fox by the Fire

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

But ever the Noldor feared most the treachery of those of their own kin, who had been thralls in Angband; for Morgoth used some of these for his evil purposes, and feigning to give them liberty sent them abroad, but their wills were chained to his, and they strayed only to come back to him again. Therefore if any of his captives escaped in truth, and returned to their own people, they had little welcome, and wandered alone outlawed and desperate.” *

We were fortunate in Thargelion.
