An unmarked grave

A piece of the past.

It's been a while since I last wrote. It seemed pointless to waste my time in placing thought to ledger when there's so much else to occupy me. Sleeping, eating, walking, taking care of Steel and Salwen. Alright, maybe as lists go, it's not a very long one but it does take up a lot of my attention!

Camp.

It took longer than expected to get here. I'll admit a certain reluctance to move too fast, foolish as that may be. My feet drag for a reason, but not one that will make much difference in the end.

What comes...

The saddle! The road! Freedom!

I hate goodbyes. I have always avoided them. More to the point, I have always avoided the need to utter such a word. When there's naught to hold you back, there's naught to say goodbye to.

My stuff!

I know what the healer said. I know what Sil' said. I can't say I cared. My bag was still where I left it, at my campsite, and I needed to get it back!

Nightmares of the past.

I'm at a complete loss. I certainly didn't want to stay in Rohan, but where else could I possibly go? There was nowhere in this world for me. There never had been and there never would be. But staying where I was meant having to deal with these mutton-chopped fools and the very real possibility of running into the wastrels of my childhood. So, I saddled Steel, gathered up my things and left.

Almost through Dunland

The source of all evil.

It's been a goodly while since I last had cause, or chance, to write. It's been a long journey to get this far but now, standing where I am, I wish it had lasted for far longer.

Profound regret.

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It should never have happened this way. It should never have ended like this. Why you? Why now?

We made it to Moria. We made it to the doors, to the dwarves. We turned back. There was no point in going in. We wouldn't have come out with anything, no matter how much help we may have given inside. We should have gone anyway. Maybe if we had...

We turned back the way we had come. That was my decision. It was the wrong one. So very wrong. I'm sorry, so sorry...

Black Lake, Black Day.

Story

Silver had expected the trip to Moria would be a waste of time. Ever since Yarassi had mentioned the group that sought to reclaim the place, she had felt less than enthused about it. Dwarves, whilst they could be quite welcoming, were hardly known for their love of sharing or their willingness to part with artifacts that they believed were rightfully theirs.

A minor setback

We stayed in the glade of the Stone Trolls for a few more days before moving on.
