I never liked te ocean. I always found it scary, I mused about it many times before, that it is unsettling to look at, to smell, to hear especially. But ever since I started my journey to visit other lands, like my friend from the Far West did, I am proud to say that I have grown to... tolerate its sight, smell and voice for at least a few miles, when I can't take refuge in the shadows of woods or behing the great sand dunes that eastern winds blow. When I cannot walk on roads for fear of being caught by hostile men.

I have hidden myself from the villager's watch. I do not wish to startle them with my presence, which may distract them from their daily tasks. ... Yet the Kintai claimed to be nothing like her or her companion. At face value, sure a noldo and a sinda appeared much different than them, they had darker skin, used face paint, styled their hair differently and spoke a language of their own. Earcalie found very weird their custom of carving trees for the departed, to “tie their fear to their birthplace?” they called them Verothi*. She tried to tell them that there was no need for it, that their faded souls would go to Mandos like the other elves but again, Dagortas insisted that the Kintai are nothing alike.
