Now, imagine that before you stands a voluptuous and stunningly beautiful young woman. Her hair as dark as the feathers of a raven and her eyes as cold as the most precious saphire. Her body is slender and her skin soft and lightdark. She moves with a graceful elegance and should you be so lucky to hear her speak, you'll find her words soft and seductive. Only rivaled by the ladies of the fair folk, her features will cause you to never forget her once you rest your eyes upon her.

Descriptions of this woman tell that she often can be seen dressed in the most expensive and luxurous dresses, crimson blood in color and most having some sort of gold or silver embroidery. Some say she wears a spikey crown and others claim that she only ever wear a tiara of silver. But one thing is certain, she is and will always be, enchanting.

Background

The many names of Nalokha

"So, you wish to hear of the maiden with many names do you?. Well I can tell you quite a few things about her. To begin with she is also known as The maiden of the far north, the Queen of Shadows. But first there is an important matter you need to know, what you are about to hear is to be kept silent, do not mention it to anyone nor speak of it out loud. Unless you want darkness to cover the the hearts of the free men and women around you. Now, let us begin..."

"In the language Adunaic, spoken by the kings and great men of old she is known as Nalokha, the Shadow Crow."

"In the high elven tongue, Ihaldánessë. More or less translated as The Shadowed Beauty. "

"The stout and proud folk of the dwarves call her Barazkibil, Silver red."

"The elves on the other side of the great river Anduin speak of her as Mornlamdîs, Daughter of the dark tongue"

In our tounge of Westernesse, the common language of the world she is known by many names such as The Dark Maiden, The Shadow Queen, Lady Red, Witch of the forest, Daughter of Lies, Mistress of the Dark etc.

"The Hobbits of the Shire simply call her “The Beautiful Lady”

"No matter what name used, they all refer to something in her nature or something that she has done.  For the tales of this woman are many and most of them have a gruesome end."

Tales and stories about the Red Witch

"Where was I, oh yes of course, stories..."

"Little is known of her true past, but should rumours be true, she is though to hail from an ancient noble house. Who’s men and women were skilled in both the arts of battle as well as ancient lore. Some say she comes from the far southlands yet others claim to know for certain thath she is daughter of a terrible warlord of the north. What the truth is no one but Nalokha herself knows and those who have been foolish or brave enough to ask her, has been met with nothing else but a short answer. Recent tales that mention her speaks of her as a leader of warriors, a tactician relied upon the use of fear and terror rather then the martial skill on the battlefield.  She is said to once have led a great army of the north down into the lands of the Free People. Starting a war that only came to end because her own cousin turned agasint her and bereft her of victorys heart."

"Writings of Nalokha speak of her as one with great skill and able to make use of terrible dark and ancient sorcery. Thought by many to be as powerful as time itself there are many brave men and women who have fallen to her skill in twisting the minds of lesser hearts. Turning them from the path of light and honour they walked upon and having them serve her dark and evil plans. She is claimed to have spillt the blood of many innocent men, women and even children. She does not seem ot care who it is that falls to the shadows as long as their deaths fill a purpose to her own agenda."

"To this day, men and women hunt her still, but no one has so far been successful in capturing her. For fear seem to thread the same paths as the Dark Queen of the North. Her return to the lands of Eriador is a dark omen and what is to come is hidden in the shadows and mysteries that surrounds this, beautiful yet treacherous woman."

"At one time she was even seen atop the great ruin to the west of Bree, no one have heard nor seen anything of her since. Some believe she had faded into the shadows for good and others claim that she merely has been gathering strength for the time to come. Either way, no one knows for certain and what is to come, no one but the Queen of Shadows wil know for certain. For it appears that those who serve this malicious woman seem to have vanished into the shadows as well. To what purpose? Why has she not been seen? Where have they gone?"

"No one knows the answer, but people fear to speak of her as it is believed that uttering her name will bring her forth and a such bring ruin to all that is good in this world."

Current Rumours of the Red Witch

"You ask if anyone knows more about her? My dear wanderer, thought by now to have vanished from the lands of the free-people for good, it appears she has vanished. There are those who still remember the Red Witch and rumour has it she has been seen to and fro in our lands, not so long ago actually. But as she is little more then part of tales told over mugs of ale, few are those who believe she still exist."

"But I do not belong amongst such simple fools, I know she lives and I know she has been seen.Where? Well in the snow covered lands of Forochel there are talks of great evil, hunters gone missing at a higher rate and there is even talk of a ghostly cry from a woman that can be heard in the wind. But if she has been seen here? Well, you go and buy my another round and I'll tell you more..."
