The 'Princess' and the Kinslayer.
He said he used to call me the 'unobtainable Princess in the Tower'. The only part of that which was true, was that I dwelt in a tower. But in those far off days, how was he to know I watched him as much as he watched me?
And now, beyond all expectations, we are travelling together. He will follow where I lead. For now, at the least.
So we met in Imlad Gelair, as planned. Our conversation hopeful, looking forward. Though neither of us fully spoke our mind, we knew...I knew where matters were heading.
The wind gusted, blowing a shoulder attachment of my dress into the water. He reached in to draw it out. So gentle he could be, this slayer of kin, this murderer. But unlike Ruineth I had known him before he followed that path. I knew it to be one he would never have chosen. But duty...we were both raised to put duty first. I could never condone fully what had happened at Doriath, and the Havens of Sirion, but I understood why it had happened. And somehow, some way, I would help ease the burden he carried.
