Silmendili

You know how these things happen: You make your way to Imdolen to contemplate the colour of the night sky in the hour before dawn, already lamenting the dimming of the starlight yet still enjoying its last glow, when you find someone already there, humming a merry tune! And as the sun is risen you find yourself still speaking to them (it must have been some spell in that Elven music!). Friendships are formed, stories exchanged, and soon you find yourself on the way to explore the ruins of the Angle together, looking for healing herbs in the woods, learning to remember and to look forward, to grieve and to love and to cherish the joy Middle Earth is still offering to those who choose to stay.

Silmendili (Lovers of Starlight) is an RP kin. Our goal is to form a small group of friends, having fun together while we explore Middle Earth through the eyes of our characters. We are currently based in Rivendell.
We are a lore-observant kin and share a deep love for Tolkien's writings, but we do not enforce one specific reading. You could say that our approach to the lore is in line with reader response theory, meaning that  our emphasis is not on author’s intent but on actively constructing meaningful stories for our characters based on our own experiences and our readings of the lore.
There are many different readings of Tolkien and people have all sorts of different backgrounds and reasons why their reading is important to them. And that is great because we can inspire each other and most readings can totally stand next to each other. Let's try to let them. (We are not open to readings that discriminate against people in real life)
If we need to make a decision for one specific reading for RP purposes, we will try to find a compromise and involve everyone who wants to be involved in that process. All our important decisions are made as a group and we encourage everyone to participate in growing together, bringing in their ideas and engaging mindfully with each other.
 

Recruitment

If this description resonates with you and you would like to get to know us or you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of our kin members here on the Archives or in game (contacting us in game when you see us online is the safest bet). We do have a recruitment process which is not meant to be a test of someone’s ability to RP, but rather something we think is important for all of us to find out if this is going to be a good fit, chemistry wise.

We are unfortunately limited to EU evenings for kin RP meetings, so it should be possible for you to make those times. Our current kin RP date is Friday 2pm server time.
