Outward Appearance

In a room full of Elves, Ningear would probably be the last one you noticed. In a room full of Men he would stand out for the sole reason of being an Elf. And maybe because he is mostly clad in dark colours. A tall stranger clutching a book or notebook if he does not have his nose buried in it.
Ningear talks seldom but If he does, he speaks with a quiet, gentle, melodic voice. He is a keen and appreciative listener, always having an open hear for something that might be worth noting down.
His hair is black and reaches almost down to his hips. Its healthy look indicates that he must be taking great care of it, but for work he is wearing it in a single tight braid or ponytail to keep it from falling into his eyes or into the inkwell.

Background

Ningaear (now called Ningear by most) carries the byname "Golwíron", desirer of knowledge. It is a translation of his mother name "Istyamermo" for his desire to learn and preserve everything was apparent in him from an early age. During the crossing of the grinding ice, memories of Alqualondë repeating themselves in his head, he renamed himself "Níngaear" (tears of the sea). Ningaear was born in the Blessed Realm and, like many, followed his lord Fingolfin to Middle Earth.

Later he settled down in Gondolin as a member of the House of the Fountain.

As a dutiful scribe he followed wherever the knowledge went, and wherever he was needed, after Gondolin fell. At first this was Lindon and then later Eregion and Imladris, where he is currently living.
