(Being a letter sent by craban to Plusheila, last known to be in Dunland)

Seregrían Lady of Bar-en-Acharn to her esteemed friend Plusheila of Dunland, greeting:
You must imagine my delighted surprise to receive your letter!
The first sign I had of its arrival was that of Bainiel running back and forth to every window, squealing delightedly “Bird! Bird!” I thought she was simply speaking of my eagle at first, but she pointed instead to the raven perched upon the lattice outside. While Bainiel immediately offered the raven a fish – as she has seen me do with Windwalker several times – I spoke to him and learned of his purpose (“Beak” you named him? He appears to like the name). Beak then proudly discharged his duty and I read your letter while Bainiel fed him.
To say I was touched by your letter is not enough. To learn that you and dear Kortheod have bested every trial and every ordeal together warms my hopeful heart. And to learn you have gathered such a company of beasts and birds cheers me; such a tender way with creatures always delights any of my kin.
I am also deeply moved to know that Kortheod holds my book-hoard in such high esteem – and that he has taught you letters as well! These are things I suspected he might try to conceal, but I confide in you, he failed. Many were the times I watched him without his knowledge as he haunted the Library, searching out books of his interest; I held my tongue and let him be, until he asks of me, which he has yet to do.
I am again delighted that your travels may bring you back to the Elf-lands once more. Dear Plusheila, know that you and Kortheod – and your “herd” – shall know great joy at your coming. Yes, Bainiel has grown swiftly, incredibly so; you might not recognize her upon your arrival; and you may wish to know she even now has your flute among her little hoard of possessions. She has made a few passes at playing it, but she will do best under your teaching, I deem.
I shall close this letter and give it unto Beak’s charge for his return to you. Know that I await your homecoming (yes, for my Lair is your home also) with joyful hope and happy welcome.
Manwë keep you under the One, and Béma grant you a swift passage.
