(Being a letter exchange between Falathlorn and Duillond)
Seregrían of Torech Besruth to her esteemed colleague Parfiolossë of Duillond, greeting:
I recall our conversation during my last visit, and I offer you a line of inquiry. You shared with me an account from a party just returned from Enedwaith; and that account mentions a small community of Periannath, holdouts of another time as it were, living secretly and hidden away from all eyes.
There was a brief mention in that account of something called the “Nightwalkers” – and I would ask if you might share details regarding that portion of the account. Any details on this line would be appreciated.
Lórien grant you fair dreams.

Parfiolossë of Duillond to her longtime friend Seregrían, greeting:
As chance would have it, I read your letter at the same time as I was examining the account of the Halflings in further detail – and in all honesty, the name “Nightwalkers” features more prominently than one might think. Here follows the meat and main of the subject:
Nightwalkers was the name bestowed upon a small faction of Periannath of that region. Apparently, the small village maintained a standing watch due to the near-constant threats they endured - much like the inhabitants of the Shire maintain a force they call the Bounders. The name Nightwalkers apparently came from their habit of patrolling mainly at night and striking out against their enemies under cover of darkness.
Just as those of the Shire are led by prominent clans and families, so it seems the Nightwalkers were drawn from one specific clan of Periannath. The account mentions that even though they achieved success and notoriety, they have faded into legend and tale; no Nightwalkers were mentioned as being present in the region for some time, and the clan seems to have died out some time past.
I trust this is sufficient for your line of research. Manwë keep you, and Elbereth smile upon your impending childbirth.

Seregrían to Parfiolossë, greeting:
I thank you, dear friend, for your detailed reply. A most interesting account, by any measure! All the more interesting, for I can add to it with a source of my own. It appears that one of the latest members joining my Household, a Perian of good repute, claims to be one of the last of that clan from where the Nightwalkers were numbered; and she has corroborated much of this account with family lore.
It is my intent to interview her further, and perhaps we might collaborate on a more accurate and detailed account of this lost community of Periannath and their social structure. I shall forward the notes from these interviews for your review, as time permits.
Manwë keep you under the One.
