Songs of old : Isimun Dum - Everlasting halls

Lady Tingruviel,

You asked the other evening for gifts that perhaps would please the dwarfs whose halls you will visit. I leave to your wise judgement if this song would suit your needs alongside the rest of the gifts. I heard it years ago from a group of dwarfs returning to Erebor who asked for passage and made camp in the lands of the King Thranduil. One of them translated its lyrics in answer to my admiration for their melodious and heart-moving lament, a song deep and sad as any's missing his long lost home.

With best wishes for your safe travel and fruitious expedition,
Iseril Naergon

R:
Home, home home, home
Under the no-stars dome
Deep in the mountain's womb
Bright jewels bloom

Unending seemed both day and night
During our dreadful no-home flight
We braved both foes and grief
Again to claim our fief

Bitterly were we forced to learn
Of hope and rage and pain in turn
And seasons many we longed in vain
Our rock from which our strength we drain

R:
Home, home home, home
Under the no-stars dome
Deep in the mountain's womb
Bright jewels bloom

Under the sky we wept
Our sorrows deeply kept
We mourned our dead and kin..
Long our exile has been.

Sour was the bread and thin our sleep
Far from our houses in the deep
And burdensome our quest
Now we return to rest

R:
Home, home, home, home
Under the no-stars dome
Deep in the mountain's womb
Bright jewels bloom

Coda:
Deeply its loss we felt
The seat where our parents dwelt
From far we heard its come back calls,
Our everlasting halls..
