Upon arriving in Chetwood, Eydia has made it an exigency to take a walk at dawn, to evoke her thoughts that she usually tried to conceal from her mind. She was one to dwell and agonise over anything and everything. Every peculiar matter that she was exposed to bewildered her, bombarding her state of mind and mood into one of unpredictability. A walk assists her in handling those thoughts, endorsing her with the opportunity to reflect and allow her body and mind to negotiate with one another, so that she returned to the Lodge with lucid thoughts.
On this particular morning, her mind was drawn to her family in the Vales. She travelled to Chetwood with her father. Her decision to stay displeased him, and he returned to the Vales, back to her mother and three siblings, but she did not. Starting fresh was something that indescribably frightened her, but she wasn’t alone in that, as Kelsig, Rogmund and Scarlet Jay were among those that stayed as well. She felt as though she’s able to flourish with the independence that she had once desperately craved, yet still holds a purpose to cause. She has been left alone, but not too alone, which means the troubled parts of her mind to overrule her consciousness.
The prospect of farming the land that Heriwulf had arranged the deed for excited her, as it meant she finally was able to be productive with her time, and to contribute to the Clan that allowed her to stay. She seemed to be looking forward to establishing a routine for herself, as all she had as of now was her routinely walk and besotting over her new love interest. She didn’t think this was a bad thing, yet she did feel as though she wasn’t contributing as much as she would like to.
Above all else, Jess was the everlasting thought she consistently possessed. A local woman, one of a sui generis nature that Eydia could not have resisted. They had not been involved with one another long, yet Eydia had found herself immediately drawn to Jess when she attended the moot two sennights ago, hence why she chose to sit beside her. They both questioned their position with the Clan, yet Jess was more explicitly about it, and so Eydia let her concerns go to the back of her mind. She seemed more determined to make sure Jess was included, since she deserved to be, given the contribution Eydia was told she had already made.
Despite her love’s presence undeniably calming her, it also troubles her. Her smile is wider, and her cheeks are redder, but she doesn’t know how to manage the feelings that have consumed her so quickly, and so deeply, in such a small period of time. They have overwhelmed her, but she’s pleased that they had.
She returned to the Lodge, made her way to her room, and laid down. Her eyes fixated on the ceiling, as she sighed. Eydia fell back asleep content, and yet, she couldn’t shake the fact that it all seems too good to be true. For now, at least.
