6. -part 2- Gone

His feet went numb, his breaths he could not feel, his eyes were only looking ahead of him and the image of Aggy was there as he ran from the town to his house. He reached the yard panting and stood there for a moment, folding in hald trying to catch his breath, the door was closed, so he knew that she was safe. Still, catching his breath he walked to the house and pushed the door open, but instead of opening it fell on the floor, Ern's heart stopped and his eyes opened wide, he started to breath with difficulty and slowly walked into the house, careful and afraid of the worst. The kitchen table was broken, as well as some shelves, some plates and cups were scattered on the ground, the chairs had fallen. He walked to the main room and to the two bedrooms, there was no sign of her. He got dizzy and outstretched his hand to suport his weight on the closest wall not to fall down and at that moment came his little son.
-Papa! Where is mama?
Ern didn't turn around at once, he remained as he was struggling to catch his breath and trying to calm his heart before turning around to face the young boy.
-Your mama's at the doctor, she.. Was working when the table broke, it's old... So I took her there to make sure she is well...
He didn't know what to say and he said the same thing that came to his mind by looking at the broken table, the boy was young and believed him. Ern then sent him to his grandparents until he'd figure out what to do and then put the door back, hoping it wouldn't fall, sat on the chair and wept bitterly. The night found him on the carpet in front of the fireplace with her dress in his arms, the fire was ready to go out when sleep came...
Days went and came, the first two found him there but in the first light of the third he got up, thinking about his son and made ready for work. Thinking whom to talk to to bring Aggy back. He knew there were many folk around the town who'd get paid for such a job but he didn't know how to approach them and what to say,  those at work would know he thought and went there. Each time he was about to ask he would hear those whistles in his head and they'd hold him back. Every day it was the same, each time he was abot to those sounds would stop him and he'd carry on with work, trying to hide Aggy's missing.
