Captain's Quick Report: March OAKS (Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series)
The night is once more late, the lights of lit lamps burn bright here in the Michel Delving, one of the popular Hobbit towns within the Shire. And would you know, that I had just finished attending another one of the Little Folks' outstanding musical events and celebrations? Or perhaps the songs they sung and the melodies played?
There is so much to write! And alas so much that can only fit proper for the short, and quick, report this must be for the Archives of the Grey Repository. The turnout for this monthly 'koncert' series by the OAKS was in phenomenal attendance by my count, with representation of all the races of Middle-Earth at one point, closer to the end. And what have you, there was even a fair number of my fellow Man back there in Oldfurlong, enjoying themselves as much as I, and there were Elves too, and a Master Dwarf later on!
Oh and the music! As I have begun to guess over the years, no matter how passionately one writes in word and letter, the true spirit of music and it's collective notes when played by a band right before your ears and eyes, the lively dancing of the audience left and right, the sound of cheers, laughter, and applause as each song ends and another begins... it truly is only properly appreciated if one is there themselves -- Master Reader, you would be well-advised to consider these monthly concerts hosted by the OAKS organization and society. Particular contacts I have known to prove reliable for such information, if you desire, would be Missus Acorne, and also Missus Toadflax. And of certainty, if you are outside the Shire and manage to obtain a rare copy of the Bramblebury Gazette, you can find the OAKS posting advance reminders about their upcoming monthly musical concerts quite often, I'm told!
Without further delay, I will submit this to the Shire's Quick Post services for immediate delivery to the Grey Repository Archives, along with a packaged collections of drawings, sketches, and colorings I briefly had made from my memory of this event and how it unfolded at times. A more thorough, detailed, and full report on this event tonight shall follow at a later time. For now, trust this old Bree Captain's word there was lively music and cheer aplenty, and so too were the berry ales, berry pies, and berry pipeweed!
Well, perhaps the berry pipeweed was not quite what I expected, but it was a hearty handful of gamwich variety nonetheless!
P.S.
If, Master Reader, you happen to be reading this report early on before many days and months, even years, have passed since I write this, then consider the next event within the Shire-bounds that you might be interested in attending. One that is also once more advertised as open and welcome to all folk, tall or short, across the realm! It is the 'Crazy Ladies at Yard Party', where, as one might have to guess at, there will be performing another popular band of musicians who are known by the full name of The Crazy Ladies of the Forest. Goodness knows how they got the name, but perhaps my attendance shall be a good learning experience to share back with the Bree Captain's Guild for future knowledge! Hoho! The location is set for the Halfling folks' weekly Bird and Baby Yard Party, usually, from the rumours, only attended by mostly hobbits, as Tall Folk might seem more out of place there than elsewhere I reckon. But nonetheless, this coming Thursday shall be an exception, and word has it they shall begin at the approximate Seven and Half bells in the evening.
