Lothlorien

            Farohir, the half-Elven twin brother to Eldariel, now stands just outside the great gates of Moria at the opening expanse into Dimrill Dale.  This is the first time in his life that he has ever beheld this land, though he has heard tell of it from many voices:  the forbidding white peaks of the Misty Mountains soaring above him to unguessed heights; the crumbling but majestic

Seregrían departs later in the morning than first planned, due to receiving late word from the Lady of Lorien. As she was readying to ride south, a messenger arrives from Caras Galadhon bearing a parcel, with a message attached:

Seregrían and Lonannuniel talk and counsel through the day, and into the late afternoon, in Egladil by the banks of Anduin.  They stand in Imlad Lalaith, the Valley of Laughter, where the feasts and revels of Lothlorien are usually held.  As the day draws on and the gloaming settles about them, still the sisters talk on; and as other Elves gather to prepare for the evening’s f

            Halrohir and Seregrían walk together beneath the trees, the sunlight building toward noon

           Seregrían stands alone at the gates of Caras Galadhon for a time, gazing along the trail where Bosi and the Galadhrim company departed for Moria.  She remains alone in her thoughts until a sudden breeze moves the boughs of the trees and shines golden upon the forest flo

That evening, as Celeborn and Galadriel feast with their guests, they discuss with Seregrían and Bosi as to what needs to be done prior to their departure. It is plain that Bosi is not pleased at the prospect of returning to Moria alone, for Seregrían is to travel south and away to some far doom.

“We have tried to answer two questions, Scholar,” Galadriel says. “and now on to the third. If those who have been turned to the Shadow can be redeemed, and if you are convinced that Thandwen the Elf is now Gwathwethil the Morroval, then the third question is, what must be done?

“Narmeleth! Well indeed do I remember her,” Seregrían says. “I knew her during the time I dwelt in Eregion before its fall. She was the Forge-maid, one of the Mirdain, but she fell into shadow herself and became Amarthiel!”
