Yllfa

Visitors of good and bad intents

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story
With my back leaning against a wooden fence built to prevent my cows from running away, I’m working on the impossible task of restoring my old rusty training sword. It has no sharp edge anymore and I'm pretty sure it would break if I strike it hard against anything. No, the sword is past its glory and fighting days, but it's still balanced enough to use while I do my morning training routine.

Many of the inhabitants of Bancross train when they can. Yllfa defends her pottage with her staff and a well aimed kick, imagining she is defending something, or someone, far more precious.

And then came the day when Waelden was able to feel the fresh grass under his feet again. Though it would still be some weeks before he could walk unaided, his broken foot had healed well. He was eager to be active, but wise enough to heed Yllfa's cautions. The afternoon the bindings were cut away from his foot, he and Yllfa visited the horses in their nearby yard. Waelden put aside his much disliked crutches for a short time, and steadied himself with the fence. Soon he would be walking and riding properly again, to both his and Ealfin's pleasure..

The Story of a Sword

Yllfa had asked after the sword, Heruwargr, with some curiosity after it's name. In response, Waelden tells the story of how his father aquired the weapon, and as Ethel returns to join them, it becomes a cosy family evening learning more about Eldewine. Untill a distraught Bronaa arrives.

The Sword.

Waelden had asked for his sword to be brought to him. I had done so, carrying it in its scabbard from his weapon rack upstairs. I passed it into his hands as he sat on one of the two chairs, by the unlit fire.

“Thank you, dear.”

Bedside Tales: Part Two. A Midsummer Morning's Dream

And for this I but repeat Ethel’s own words, as she told it to me:

Bedside Tales: A Midsummer Night's Surprise.

That first week we had Waelden in the bed at home, Ethel and I would sit near him in the evening and talk about all sorts of things. In part it was to soothe our own anxiety over how well his foot would heal. It was to give him some sound in the background he could choose to listen to, or not. And it was to strengthen the bond between us all.

Yllfa finds a lot more use for her infirmary, and her healing skills of late.
