Having fought beside the Malledhrim in the diversion, Raolor leads the scouting party to the point from which the Malledhrim scattered. They stop at a crossroads beside the dark fortress and allow Nelnardis to find tracks that will help them decide which path to take.

The dark, imposing fortress looms over the elves as they stick to the shadows, looking for traces of Malledhrim who disappeared after the diversion at Dol Guldur's gate. The missing had risked their lives so that the others could rescue the prisoners from within the fortress; it was only right that they find them and ensure their safety.

The company passes beneath the ruins, hoping to conceal their path of retreat.

Annughil, Caethel, and Turumor must plan for a hasty retreat with the Malledhrim now that they have escaped Dol Guldur with the elven prisoners.
