The Heartstrings are a rather unusual family. Not famous, not of renown, but unusual. They acquired their name a few generations back, starting out as Horsestrings being breeders of horses, but moving onto String, and thus onto Lutestring, going from lute to heart in a matter of only four generations. Their ancestors was from start (a noticeable amount of generations back) two Rohirrim riders that had moved south in order to become Rangers, but pretty quickly their lines began to dwindle, and they now call themselves Bree-landers going back at least five generations. Not Bree-town locals, they do just live north of the town, in the Bree-lands among the farms and farmers. But they are nowhere close to farmers. Since about two generations back, the Heartstrings have been in some contact with the Mathom Society, as well as being highly educated in the arts of music. They are still breeding horses, which is that minor link they share to the Mathom Society, as they provide them with mounts adapted to both hobbits and the countryside.

As soon as she was eligible, Aleera moved from the northern Bree-fields to Bree itself, there trying to make a living and figure out exactly what she longs to do with herself. Most possibly, she might need someone to push her in the right direction. 

A trait owning to their Rohirrim ancestors, the Heartstrings have tended to become all from blonde to goldenhaired in almost every generation. Jokingly, when a darkhair is born, they're regarded as the "black sheep" of the family, though, perhaps not as serious as the original meaning of the concept is. These relatives tend to call themselves "Darkhair" for nickname, sometimes even in "Heartstring"'s stead.
