One who meets Ferco, would quite quickly notice his fondness for hats, as Ferco usually wears a leathery-hat which has been his father's and grandfather's thus is quite special to him, with it he wears a common-white tunic with blue overalls and a dark-blue cape. Background
Ferco Banks was born 1344 S.R. (Shire Reckoning) in Bywater, to Mr. Berco and Mrs. Peony Banks. In his tweens, he has picked up Berco's love and hobby of fishing, and grown to love it himself, which turned him into the fisherhobbit he is, today. In his late tweens (about aged-29), he got a job as the postman's assistant in Bywater, which he was for about seven years (29-36). It was then, that he (as well as Perco Banks, his brother) moved to Hobbiton to work as stablehands - a humble yet hardworking occupation indeed.
The two continued this until they were both in their forties, which was when Perco married an Iris Hornblower, and acquired his own hole back in Hobbiton where he also got a new job, working in the Ivy Bush. Ferco (aged 44, at the time) left the job of a stablehand and acquired a new job, with helping his father as a baker for two decades (from 44-67, he was a baker). When Ferco first aided his father in his work, that was when his nephew - Merco Banks, was born.
Throughout the years, Ferco had a nice relationship with his nephew and grew to love him, as one would expect an uncle would, however, Merco in his tweens was like most other tweens at the time and desired to go on adventures (inspired by Bilbo's adventures) and had a similar fondness for tales and stories as Ferco did. Ferco told him all the stories of Bilbo, The Old Took, Bullroarer, and all of that sorts that he knew but he soon ran out of stories to tell and his nephew desired more. So, at that point, Ferco simply decided to make his own story up - those of lands he made-up on the spot with animals and all sorts. Merco did enjoy that story, so much so, that suggested to Ferco, he should write it in a book and have it published.
And that is exactly what happened, this story turned into 'Mister Fred's Adventures' and an entire year later, he managed to get that book published, which proved to be popular. Now, he was considered to be an author, and Ferco very much enjoyed writing this book and writing for children in general thus he decided to pursue a career from it. He quit his job as a baker, and began writing his second book. Two years later, when he was aged 70, his second book, 'The Big Garden of Little Things', which seemed even more popular than his first book.
Four years later, Ferco Banks left Hobbiton-Bywater and his family behind (although he still hopes to make frequent trips to his relatives) for Barleywick in the hopes of peace and quiet, and a nice little area for him to fish, as well as a nice place where he can start and work on his third book for children!
