Schorsvreter

Schorsvreter: Guardian of the Greatwood
| Name | Schorsvreter |
|---|---|
| Status | Active |
| Occupation | Woodcutter, Guardian, Tollsman. |
| Age | Long in tooth and claw, young enough to keep dark hair. |
| Race | Man |
|---|---|
| Residence | Northern Mirkwood, where the mountains meet the trees. |
| Kinship | None. |
| Outward Appearance | 'Standing near was a huge man with a thick black beard and hair, and great bare arms and legs with knotted muscles. He was clothed in a tunic of wool down to his knees, and was leaning on a large axe.... '- The Hobbit, Chapter 7 - Queer Lodgings
Alike his ancestors before him he was indeed a huge man -- though he did not match anywhere near to the height of Beorn, neither do any of his brothers and sisters -- with thick hair and a beard down to his chest, wearing a woolen tunic that reaches mid-thigh, perhaps a hint too short for when a gust of wind comes howling down. His arms were muscled from years of toiling in the woods, and more often than not a frown is set on his heavy brow.
'He can be appalling when he is angry, though he is kind enough if humoured. Still I warn you he gets angry easily.' - The Hobbit, Chapter 7 - Queer Lodgings
A snarl is often at his lips and his brow more often furrowed than not. He hates company, save for the few that he must deal with to be able to trade, primarily the Woodsmen of Mirkwood. His large calloused hand is easy to ball into a fist, and the large wood cutting axe at his side is used for more than felling trees. Warg furs are generally draped around his shoulders, as a trophy.
'And it is said that for many generations the men of his line had the power of taking bear's shape, and some were grim men and bad, but most were in heart like Beorn, if less in size and strength.' - The Hobbit, Chapter 18 - The Return Journey
His bear shape is also as huge and hulking as he is, and it can be said a wild glint come to the dark beady eyes of his changed skin. He was grim and bad; happily hunting warg and goblin for sport in both the form of man and beast, yet, at heart he was still alike his greatest ancestor. He did not hunt nor kill wild animals that were innocent if he could help it, and mainly survived on cream and honey. His closest friends are the animals he shares a lodge with, and to anyone other than these he is not very polite.

Background
"lndeed," said Glóin, "if it were not for the Beornings, the passage from Dale to Rivendell would long ago have become impossible. They are valiant men and keep open the High Pass and the Ford of Carrock. But their tolls are high," he added with a shake of his head; "and like Beorn of old they are not over fond of dwarves. Still, they are trusty, and that is much in these days." - The Fellowship of the Ring - Many Meetings
You have been wandering in the wilderness, you have left the path you used. At least so it seems, because if there is one it is long overgrown in this forlorn part of the earth. This place is peaceful at least, the birds chirp their songs, small woodland creatures scuttle away and the trees wave their branches in greeting on the wind.
Time progresses.. a day, two days, four days, six days, a week, two weeks? Keeping track of the days is hard in this timeless land that is governed only by the seasons. And it is when you find yourself on sunny ones that you may hear more than animal or plant.
As you come closer to inspect, cautious or curious as you are. You hear a strange noise, coarse and free! "Timberrrrrrrrrrr!", is being yelled not too far away! Followed up by the teeth-shattering racket of roots snapping , branches breaking and a horrendous "BADUMMM" as a tree falls upon the ground!! You realise that a few steps further could have you being dragged down along with the mighty thing!! But it is not over! Now you stand eye to eye with a lumberjack holding an axe at least half your own size!! The figure just as surprised as you suddenly jumps up with his long legs to catch you and he does!! A figure of proportion that no normal Man could have, he has to look down and you have to look up to make eye-contact. It is when his voice comes out you feel your hair being pushed back of the force by which the air is pushed from his presumably strong lungs!!
