Please note: Due to a recent event that occurred ICly (and will be mentioned in a future LoS chapter), Quintyn now no longer has the facial hair - a scruffy beard akin to a goatee - that he once had. His hair is now, also, much more well-kept, groomed, and swept.

Background

General Details

Full Name: Quintyn Robert Snowden

Age: 23 (Unofficial)

Date of birth: 14 April, 2995 T.A.

Race: Atani, Edain, Race of Men

Ethnicity: Breeman

Location of Birth: Bree-Town, Bree

Father: Brannoric ‘Windgardens’ Vesfyre

Mother: Beryl Howsmere

Current Residence: No current residence of his own. ‘Permanent’ (Temporary for a long time) abode in the Prancing Pony inn, Bree-Town.

Occupation: No formal occupation.

Social Class at birth: Lower-Class, Poor.

Social Class now: Middle-Class, Average.

Acquired Skills

Formal Education: Formal Education from the age of fourteen.

Reading: Yes.

Writing: Yes.

Education: No education till the age of fourteen. At fourteen years of age, Quintyn received the formal-education of nobles, when his father recognised him as a son (Though not a legitimate son).

Combat: Able to fight with weapons as small as daggers, or as big as longswords (‘Hand and a half sword’, ‘Bastard Sword’, call it what you will). Quintyn is not strong enough to wield greatswords, and he dislikes the hefty, unwieldy feel to axes, maces, and clubs. Quintyn was trained by a knight from the age of fourteen (Due to his father’s position in the world), and is therefore skilled in the art of combat, if not a master. Quintyn is ‘able’ to use a bow, however he is not skilled at marksmanship, nor does he prefer (or even like) it.

Riding: While not a master at riding, Quintyn is quite skilled. He can be referred to as a ‘good’ rider.

Occupational skill: Having no formal occupation, Quintyn can’t be described as having ‘Occupational Skills’. One should refer to ‘The Life of a Sadist’ to perhaps understand what Quintyn does.

Workmanship: Definitely not a craftsman. Quintyn is not a smith, nor a woodworker, he cannot be relied on to gather herbs, and he is useless when it comes to creating his own objects, and he has no craft.

Cooking: Quintyn has never cooked anything (Refer to ‘Background’, below). That is, ‘cooked’ anything he planned to eat…

Social skills: While Quintyn can be described as ‘charming’, his sadistic character is the downfall of his conversational skills. He can only, at best, be described as a ‘marginally-okay’ diplomat. Being rather introverted (Though not shy), Quintyn has fewer socialising skills, and conversations with him will often go off-topic, or become awkward.

Physical Appearance

Major Physical Distinctions:

  • ‘Muddy’, brown eyes that may cause distinction.

  • ‘Slick’ eyebrows that seem rather odd, and ‘hand-crafted’ as though they are not natural.

Scarring:

  • No scarring.

Signs of Age:

  • Little sign of old age. Quintyn looks very youthful, and must only be in his early twenties, perhaps.

Injuries, as of now: None.

Physical Appearance: No scarring, no weathering or sign of old age, gaunt features, pale.

Outward Appearance: Standing at the height of 6'3'', Quintyn is, by extreme, tall. He has short-wavy hair, which is jet-black, and 'muddy' brown eyes - His features are slightly gaunt, but he could be described as 'handsome', if not dream-like, as he retains his youth with no sign of weathering, and little of any age. He would bear no visible scarring. He is rather-pale, if not very, very pale.

Height: Six foot Three. 6’3’’.

Body Form: Thin, slender, and agile. Quintyn would have muscles, that can be seen most of the time, but he would most certainly not be bulky or weighty. (By OOC terms: Quintyn can be described as an ‘Ectomorph’, being thin/slender, tall and not as muscular as a ‘Mesomorph’. Please correct me if I am wrong)

Eye Colour: ‘Muddy’ brown

Hair Colour: Jet-Black

Family

Father: Brannoric ‘Windgardens’ of the House Vesfyre; Quintyn, most certainly, does not love his father – and he in fact hates him. His father has always looked ‘down’ upon Quintyn, and it was only when Wilham, the true-born son of Brannoric, became ill that Quintyn was recognised as one of Brannoric’s children. After Wilham was well and able again, Quintyn was almost forgotten – being abandoned to do with the world on his own.

Mother: Beryl Howsmere; Quintyn loathes the very existence of his mother – and refuses, in all honesty, to accept said-existence. She is nothing to him, and better off dead than living.

Siblings:

  • Paternal Half-Brother - Wilham ‘Windgardens’; Wilham is what Quintyn views as the main obstacle between him and becoming the heir of the House Vesfyre. This is both practically and theoretically true.

  • Maternal Half-Brother - Laegrem Reeding; Quintyn does not regard Laegrem as his own brother, being his half-brother through his mother. He is a frozen stripe of paint in an ecstasy of paint brushes.

Marital Status: Unmarried.

Children: Two;

  • Jon [M]; Quintyn is not at all a father, or a family-orientated man, and he refuses to accept Jon as a son.

  • Wilham [M]; Quintyn is not at all a father, or a family-orientated man, and he refuses to accept Wilham as a son. He, Wilham, shares the same name as Quintyn’s paternal half-brother for reasons involving a stray ‘woman’ wanting to somehow impress Quintyn and gain his affections. This name caused quite the opposite, however, and Wilham is, in most accounts, now an orphan.

Friends and Foes

Quintyn’s definition of a ‘Friend’: Someone whom he can trust. That is, trust with a mission, goal, or aim. Quintyn does not like to refer to anyone as a ‘friend’, for he believes that there is no such thing as a ‘friend’. To quote him on the matter, ‘Friends? Now that, is one of the greatest lies I’ve ever heard. There is no such thing as a “friend”, my friend. Heh. […] pain breaks all of them, pain is your friend, it’s your only friend… Mostly because it’ll kill all your other “friends”’ (The Life of a Sadist, an unreleased chapter)

Quintyn’s definition of a ‘Rival’: Anyone who ‘gets in his way’, or would seek to oppose him. There are those ‘in the world’ whom are Quintyn’s ‘rivals’, without even knowing; for example, his paternal half-brother, Wilham. Please refer to ‘The Life of a Sadist’ for further understanding.

Quintyn’s definition of an ‘Enemy’: Someone whom is actively against him.

Friends: ‘The Scarred Man’.

Allies:

  • Henry Redstem – Although originally unwilling, Henry ‘joined’ Quintyn in one of his many plots. This happened, due to Quintyn giving Henry the assassination contract to his own death, which Henry signed (believing that it was in fact a contract to hire ‘Robert’, Quintyn, into his service as a Squire). Henry, very, soon found out what he had done, and Quintyn used this against him, by telling Henry that, […] you refuse, and I go to the guards – With this. They wont even check who’s death warrant it is, I think, and even if they do, why I’ve got money, and guards need their pay.
Quintyn later told Henry, in another meeting, that he wanted him to do something more, thus breaking their original deal and creating a new one. Quintyn told Henry in that meeting that if Henry tried to kill him, he and his […] father will both be shunned publically’, and that they would both be killed (Quintyn claimed that the warrant had already been copied and sent to several other people, whom would all call for assassins, or mercenaries, to kill Henry and his father. The truth to this claim has not yet been learnt by Henry).

  • Qhadar – Qhadar is one of Quintyn’s few allies. He is also one of the fewer spies that Quintyn employs. The word, ‘spies’, here meaning: someone whom Quintyn has paid, to pay others to find out information regarding certain topics. Qhadar is, quite literally, the ‘middle man’ between the actual spies and urchins, and Quintyn – He acts as a broker, and has been used in the past to find out about Henry, gaining knowledge of his noble blood (Which Quintyn then used).

Rivals:

  • No one he would name so openly, yet. (OOC Note: This is information that would spoil ‘important’ plotlines from the roleplays included in ‘The Life of a Sadist’. If your character is ‘meant’ to be here, and isn’t, then it is most likely due to me not wanting to fully reveal certain roleplays that we may/may not have had.)

Enemies:

Views on others

The Race of Men: Quintyn is of this race.

The Race of Dwarves: To quote Quintyn, ‘They’re good at their crafts; but they’re weak-minded, stunted little things.’

The Race of Hobbits: To quote Quintyn, ‘I’ve dealt with some of them. Far too happy, far too free; they don’t seem to care about anyone but their own, but, then again, neither do I.’

The Race of Elves: To quote Quintyn, ‘Elves? What, you mean from the stories? They disgust me, and I haven’t even met one. Imagine just how sick I’ll be, when I do.’

Specifics;

  • Henry RedstemA fool, and a bad-tempered one at that. A tool, and a little fat. To Quintyn, Henry is nothing but another tool that he can use to his own ends. Quintyn views him as a fool, and does not seem to mind abusing the fact that Henry finds it hard to read.

  • The Mayor of Bree – After certain incidents, and growing knowledge of Quintyn’s pastime-activities, relations between the Mayor of Bree and Quintyn have decrease

The Key ingredients to Character Stew

General Personality: Quintyn is a Sadist, though not entirely similar to the stereotypical view of sadists. He finds a queer sense of joy in causing others pain, grief, or hurt – And he, also, likes blood. The blood of others, that is – Though not as literal as it sounds. He enjoys blood and the idea of pain, death or torment, but he does not relish in it. He, in fact, would prefer to keep people alive, and in a state of sanity.
While not the most sociable person, Quintyn is what some could, perhaps, call a ‘charming’ person, in his own queer way. He often projects himself as a calm individual, though he has, can, and most likely will, be showing himself as a ‘happy’ or ‘over-joyous’ person.
Quintyn enjoys plots, and the thrill of tricking others. He is also rather power-hungry, though not too much. To explain this further, the example of Henry can be given; Quintyn used Henry in order to increase his own ‘power’ (In what way, wont be revealed yet – Please read ‘The Life of a Sadist’ for information on this).

Distinctions in behaviour:

  • Quintyn is a sadist.
  • Strange ‘jumps’ in his emotions, or at least his projected emotions.
  • Thrilled by deception.

General Philosophical Beliefs: Not much of a ‘philosopher’ or a politician, Quintyn’s views are quite linear. He believes firmly in the idea of utilitarianism, and finds no problems with harming others in order to advance his own means. To him, everyone and anyone but him is a tool to be used.
(OOC explanation: Slight references from Machiavelli, Quintyn does not care about what he has to do in order to gain more influence, power, or raise his standing. However, he does not believe in Machiavelli’s most famous point: ‘The ends justify the means’. To him, there is only one end, and only one set of means, or tools.)

Character Traits;

  • Introverted – Though not too introverted, Quintyn does prefer to be alone. This is not because he is shy, or does not like communication, but rather because he finds others to be boring. This trait has caused Quintyn to become rather unsociable, preventing him from developing many communication skills. This may also cause conversations with Quintyn to become awkward or strangely boring.

  • The love of blood – Quintyn has a deep love for blood, and the idea of pain. He finds that it eases his own thoughts, and gives him a strange thrill. This odd desire for inflicting pain upon others has caused Quintyn to become somewhat, as described by some, evil. He relishes in the pain of others, and may often appear as a psychopath, or a deranged-lunatic.

Quotes of importance

"Gods? Hmm. Perhaps, I should give this group a lesson on your religious beliefs, hmm? It can be intuitive! Cant it? Not only will they be unable to commit such offences again, but they'll also be able to meet their gods! If a bit... Messy. Hm. Yes, I think I will."

"This is a merry meeting, isnt it? Now, was it just the heads they wanted? That's ok. But. Oh. Wait, no, no, no. It's not. It's not ok at all!"

Chronicles by Quintyn

The Life of a Sadist - story of Quintyn's day-to-day life, involving real roleplay events and 'fillers' - This will be a mix between first and third person, in an attempt to give the reader the thoughts or mindset of Quintyn, however it is not ICly written by any actual character. This chronicle is simply a way of putting together a story or a semi-journal of Quintyn's life. There are interludes which go over other characters, too. This should be released every Wednesday - But having just came back to the LA, with a broken PC (This is being typed up on a laptop - which has none of my LoS works saved on it), there wont be any posts for a deal of time; whether that is a small deal, or a great deal, is not fully known yet. I have, also, yet to remake the profiles of all my characters, which will also delay this chronicle.

A Short Background

Born a bastard-son to a sir, or ser, Quintyn's life was rather average; that is, it was down-trodden. Quintyn was  not at all impoverish at all - for, as one can  imagine, bastards aren't worth much in their father's eyes. Brannoric was also already married, and thus had no plans on legitimizing Quintyn.

That's all.

OOC: This section will not be completed until the end of 'Life of a Sadist', or rather: the end of a part quite far down the line. The reason for this is solely due to spoilers.
