Galodin's fight with a Gaunt-lord in Dol Dinen

((OOC note: Here Galodin writes about the fight that almost cost his life, the fight with the Gaunt-lord in Dol Dínen))

Here I, Galodin Dunedhel, write my story about the recent happening, my fight with a Gaunt-lord Wight in Dol Dinen.

My story starts at the night of battle. Wounded had been brought to the camp in Lin-Giliath.

I took care of the wounded together with Hîril Nimlith and a few other healers.

Once the wounded were resting I decided to leave on my own back to Dol Dínen to search for more fallen warriors. As I went into the forest that lays near Dol Dínen I saw many wood-trolls, luckily I was able to sneak my way past those brainless creatures, I can not say that of many others. Once I reached the outskirts of Dol Dínen I saw some orcs and wargs, nothing that was unusual for the place.. I slew those on my path until I saw something that I had not seen before, at least not in those lands. I saw something in the shape of a corpse with still some white flesh on the bones.. the thing had a crown which seemed like it was attached to its head. He wielded a black staff with wings on the top as decoration or such. He had no eyes and no ears, his fingers were long and thin with black, sharp nails at the end of his pale hands.

The creature looked at me and spoke yet I did not see his mouth move even a slight bit.

He spoke these words:

“ Who comes there, Oh I see.. an Eldar from the old days.. thy have come here at the wrong time, now thy shall die a slow death as you deserve for being such a fool to face me. Many I have seen and all have fallen, begging for mercy to let me kill them after I had cut them open and burned their entrails in front of their eyes, you shall see no other fate ”

I felt fear like I had not seen before, I drew my blade and held my staff in front of me, ready to battle my enemy. He whispered some words and black smoked filled the area, I knew he could see me and I couldn’t see him. Before I even thought of a way out I heard him standing behind me and I swung my sword in his direction I heard him scream and the smoke went away yet he was gone. When I turned around I saw him standing above me on a rock. The Wight raised his staff as fire rained from the sky and the trees around me burned. Walls of fire had now surrounded me and I fell on my knees, praying for Estë to have mercy on this soul. No longer than a couple of seconds later I saw a great light coming out of my staff.. I do not know why but I aimed it at my foe and he screamed in black-speech, I could not hear what he said yet I knew this was good.

He became weak yet he had still power, I stood there.. looking at him, no Idea what his next move would be. In no more than a second I felt a force throwing me up the rock where the Wight was standing. I was lying there at his feet as he impaled his staff in my chest, the wings on the staff ripped open my body as I screamed loudly. I felt my skin started to burn, some simply dripped of my bones. At my last strength I managed to stab him with my blade right in the heart of his body as he started to shake he fell and turned into ashes.
