Naneth nîn,
I hope all is well at home. It’s been too many seasons since I have seen you, and I hope I can come back soon to visit.
I have been assigned to scouting and guarding chiefly along the Nimrodel. I spent a few seasons in the gardens, aiding those maintaining their beauty by keeping them safe from the handful of wild boars and such that threaten to trample them on occasion.
How have you been faring? I look forward to seeing your weaving on my return home, and hearing all the tales of home that I have missed.
Gi mellin,
Loth
Lothiel nîn,
I have missed you, little one, though you are not so little anymore, I suppose. Nor have you been in some time, but you will always be my little flower. Not much has happened here, so I have little to report.
Your 500th Aur en-Onnad approaches. I find it hard to believe it has been so many years since you left for your early training. I pray for your safety every night under the stars. Your adar would be proud of you, but no one is as proud of you as I am.
I hope you shall be home for your Aur en-Onnad, but if you cannot, I will do my best to send you something to brighten the day.
Be safe, iell nîn.
Gi mellin,
Naneth
Naneth,
It was so wonderful to be home again with you. Though my home now is in the flets on our borders most days, I did not realize how much I missed our little home. I wear the necklace you gave me every day, and treasure it greatly.
I have included sketches for you of some of the trees and rivers I keep watch over. It can be lonely up here, and I have much time on my hands. Perhaps these can make the subject of a weaving for you, and bring us a little closer yet while I am gone.
Gi mellin,
Loth
Loth,
The sketches were beautiful. You have much talent and I have already begun to make a weaving of the landscape you captured. I hope I shall finish it before your next visit home so you can see it completed.
I have heard some rumors that bring me concern for your safety, iell nîn. The mother of one of your fellow Marchwardens is among those in my weaving group, and she spoke of a Warden known for reckless behavior, charging after Orc bands and disregarding orders. Her description sounded much like you. Please tell me it is not so.
Stay safe, and be wise.
Gi mellin,
Naneth
Naneth,
I am well and safe, I promise. My fellow Marchwarden likely exaggerated events. I have only disregarded instructions when it was necessary for the safety of my fellows, as the Orcs are getting bolder and our people more complacent. You know I am good at what I do, and there have been none that have escaped my bow, nor any significant injuries I have received.
I hope I shall be home soon to see the weaving. But please, worry not about me. I promise I am safe and well.
Gi mellin,
Loth
Loth,
Lord Haldir has spoken to me concerning you. He says you have become reckless, and despite excelling in your skills, he is concerned about your continued well-being. He told me you have developed quite a history of disregarding orders in favor of your own judgement.
But he also said that you may be right about our people’s complacency, and that the choices you have made are effective.
I do not know what to tell you regarding this. My greatest wish is for you to excel in what you pursue and find joy in it, but I also wish for your safety. I do not wish to see you removed from a path you love, nor to see you harmed or ill befall you. Yet I am proud that you put our people’s safety above all else.
You are an elleth I am proud to call my daughter, yet I fear for your future.
You remain in my prayers and my heart with all my love.
Gi mellin,
Naneth
