Ana's diary

Well Diary,  It's been a few months since I was recruited to work for the Company of the East Road. I suppose I should make a record of it here. I must admit, I am finding the company of others more agreeable than I'd expected, although don't get me wrong, it has it's moments.

Having not done this kind of work before, I didn't really know what was expected of me other than protect the goods, and watch each others backs.  Well, so far so good. Other than, in inhindsight, a questionable decision to carry on through the night in Trolltown, we seem to have made decent progress and avoided unwelcome interest on our cargo.

After going for so long with just mainly my own company, being able to spend time chatting over a drink or watching the stars with my friend (I have those now!) Amaken, has been a real joy.  I am quite honestly surprised how quickly our friendship has developed  in such short a time.

The rest of the Company, well, from those I have spoken to,  there are some interesting personalities in this mix. Heading it up we have Furley, he seems to be the man in charge. He's an odd one, very rarely relaxed - the man is always on edge, waiting for the next thing to go wrong. His counterpart seems to be Deorla, who although seems friendly enough, she very much keeps her cards close to her chest, and just association with her got us into a strange conversation at the Pony. However, she has done me no wrong, and her advice and guidance so far has been straight and true, so I'm not one for listening to late night gossip.  Who else? Ah yes,  Furley is very ably assisted by Daphnee, a lovely girl who is not afraid of speaking her mind. It's refreshing to see. And that leaves me with Kildwin, last but by no means least.  On my first day at the Company, he challenged Furley to some kind of duel. I could barely watch. Pointless fighting to the point that Furley ended up concussed blabbering alsorts of stuff. Daphnee and I had to carry him back in to the Kinhouse. So, it's fair to say, I have been non too trusting of the hot headed dwarf. However, he does know his stuff and if anyone can train up this rag tag bunch of folks that now make up the Company of the East Road, I reckon he can.  I guess a few of us are more used to travelling alone, so it does take a firm hand to whip us into shape - and who doesn't love press-ups?  He has a thing about the feathered hats, the company uniform (if Furley gets his way). In fact most seem not to like them, which is a shame. I don't mind it so much. Keeps the hair from getting in my face, purely practical, not at all because it reminds me of dressing up as a child - because, you know, responsibility and adulthood... That's me now...
