Evendim Journal Entry 2: Tham Nambarth

I spoke to Ranger Orchalwë, who told me about the Fields of Twilight. The area, just east of Tinnudir, once was an area with large estates belonging t noble families. Now the estates are long fallen into ruin, but they still hold significant historical value and there are still evidence of this to be found. However, in recent years, with the dwindling numbers of the Rangers and the increase in evil activity the ruins have fallen into total decay and disintegration. Robbers and goblins have set up camp and are searching for loot, or they are overgrown with wild life. Orchalwë has written a detailed diary of the ruins and he has allowed me to borrow it if I will in turn do what I can to aid the Rangers in regaining control of these significant ruins.

I know this is a project that could prove of great worth to the Rangers, but also to The Custodians. Nindrahil would be most pleased, were I to succeed in discovering anything of importance. With Orchalwë’s diary in my pack I shall set out, first going to Tham Nambarth which is only but a close ride from Tinnudir. I have no doubts that I shall face goblins or worse, but unless a great host has set up camp there, I don’t think they shall prove much of a challenge. These lowly creatures rarely put up much of a fight when faced with my fire wrath!

At Tham Nambarth though, it was another threat facing me. An infestation of deer. Deer are not bad in small numbers, but a large groups can cause devastation to fragile ruins like these. These deer had long been here and were not receptive to my speech or my plea for them to leave. I shall ask Orchalwë if a few of the rangers can come here and reduce the numbers. I believe that is the only way. I found a small group of 3 men having taken up camp in a corner of the ruins. They were not the friendly kind, so they felt my fiery wrath. I know Nindrahil prefers for us Custodians to only passively record history and not to fight. But needs must sometimes, there was no other way! I spend a few days clearing the ruins of overgrown ivy which was slowly strangling the old building works. On my 4th day I came upon a very old piece of tapestry. It was such a find, so I stayed an extra day to see if I could find more. I managed to find 4 smaller pieces. I shall bring them back to Orchalwë, but I will create a copy on paper that I can bring back to Nindrahil. She will be most pleased.

The view from Tham Nambarth is stunning, overlooking the bridge and Tinnudir with views of the lake. Whoever lived here in times long gone would have found great happiness from these views that gives such peace to the mind.
