A letter delivered to Svaroh's residence at Thorin's Hall by the local Ered Luin messenger, supposedly arriving from Ered Luin's Wyld Hunt Den, but clearly originating from Rivendell.

I hope this letter finds you well.
The experiments on my shard specimen (that same piece Shemkel obtained in Moria) have led the scholars of The Wyld Hunt to more questions. However, I have a solid lead. It seems to be responding to miniscule lightning charges. I have been able to invoke a reaction inside the crystal by introducing it to a light charge, but this is enough reason to try and increase the charge to a lightning level. So far, it makes sense, since the lightning often accompanies earth lava. It may be far-fetched extrapolation, yet, I believe it does need to be tested, preferably outside any inhabited settlement due to apparent safety concerns.
It appears I have just the right place in mind where the scholars of The Wyld Hunt may test the effects of lightning on this remarkable object - Amon Sûl.
In my preparations for travel, I would ask for your opinion in this matter. Mayhaps, you have performed similar experimentation? Is there an aide you may recommend to me? Or, maybe, you would like to partake yourself in this endeavor?
I expect to depart in a month, which should be enough time to hear back from you and even adjust my plans accordingly.
