After stopping the envoy from reaching their destination we returned to Ost Guruth and there we happened upon more we have now named companions, Estenthel and Vaedairon have taken to aiding us. Both of whom we found within the keep of the Eglains.
We got to know each other and Thorontir soon after asked to meet with the elders of this place and we were granted a hearing the day after.
It was a hearing that had us all on edge.
With what is to come we'll need more men to fight along side us, we cannot handle this enemy alone but to ask for aid from these people is harder than one would expect. They do not have much to spare, what then men. It would be hard to convince them to lend us support for this.
We gathered outside the elder's keep to discuss how we should approach and some became louder than others about how to do so, none of us seemed to agree what the right step was and before we could reach an agreement we were called inside.
We gathered before the elders and it was not a very friendly greeting we got from them. An older woman spoke on their behalf and I cannot say I would wish for her to be my grandmother, she seemed bitter, angry and over all unpleasant to be around. Even when she mustered a smile it did not seem to fit her face.
None of the less she would hear us out, each of us getting a chance to speak our mind about the matter and why we needed their aid.
Each one was taken differently to and we could not tell for certain if our words were heeded and then shock found us as the woman pointed towards one of our stranger company, Remdir.
You could hear a pin drop as we turned to him, all with the same fear, he is not the best in social situations when it comes to polite conversations. Our fears were quickly realized as he spoke and crudely at that.
I do not think I've ever seen Thorontir so pale as Remdir's speech finished and we all turned to the elders who were just as shocked by the curses and rather foul manner of speak as he addressed them.
The elders began to mumble between each other and I could hear my own heartbeat thumping against my chest, fearing that after the rude wording there would be no way we could get the aid we need.
The minutes that passed felt like hours and not a word was spoken among us, my guess is that we were all thinking and worrying about the same thing.
As a surprise to all of us, however, these harsh spoken words were the ones that finally snapped these elders to their senses and we were told to take one of their own to show what we had seen. We would escort him to the camp we had found and show him that we were not lying about this threat.
It is still hard to imagine that of all it was Remdir that got through to them but we can be thankful for it.
