The day was arm and sunny but it felt chill and dim to the Hobbits of Staddle, for they were afraid of what lurked in the night. They murmured to each other in hushed voices about a large animal having stomped through the edge of the farms the previous night.
Thankfully it had chosen to head into the marish instead of town or into one of the farms. However those living closest to the edge of the marish were haunted by the angry roaring of the beast and the tortured screams of goblins until amost dawn.
