The air blew chilly over Weathertop, despite it being a summer day, that night was cold and moonless, the three men stood atop the old watch-tower gazing in the distance. Their watchful gaze was on Naerost, the old landmark just below the watch-tower. Once it seems to have been a great sight, now it's infested with orcs that came to the land, carrying out the foul orders of their master. Two of the three men stood motionless near an old pillar, and the third one sat on fallen part of it, resting his chin in his fist. Lately the orcs of Naerost were busy and there was movement almost every night, so the three men came to investigate, thin their numbers if needed be.
Another night the orcs had sent three carts to the Northwest, no one knew what they had in them, just that every now and then they were sent Northwest, destination unknown. But this night the destination was to be known, the three Rangers stood there with the intention to follow the orcs to see where they were going. Once the great gate opened the three men stood up and followed the path leading down to the base of the hill and from there they waited for the band to pass and they followed after them, hidden in the dark, clad in their dark blue outfits.
The company headed North, around the base of the hill and towards the Midgewater Pass, all the while staying as far from the main road as possible. The three men followed behind them, remaining in the dark and quiet, nothing was said between them, their thoughts were set on the task. The caravan went on and on in the dark, the thumping of the boots of the orcs sounding as if in a parade as they ran, forcing the Rangers to run after them.
The next day Candaith found the bodies of his brothers near the water, their weapons were broken and their clothes ripped apart, the signs of struggle were obvious and the dead had many scars on their bodies. He sent word of that to Esteldin, but the death of those men was hidden among him and very few others, counted on the fingers of one hand.
