After arriving at Rivendell with her mother and Arathran, Glimonasse had spoken to several of the elves. She was quiet, but not shy, merely observing the various conversations. Eventually she was regularly speaking to a handful of the elves. Some were impressed with her ability to understand the beasts of the land and birds of the air. Though she did not call any of the friend, she and they were cordial enough to share some of their tales.
The unfortunate side of this was Arathran's animosity. There seemed to be a slowly growing darkness in him. Glimonasse had hardly been taught anything from him, and he was to teach her how to be a ranger. Finally, he had her studying in the library, reading the history of the Dunedain and the elves. But that was not the problem. Instead, the problem came from the way he watched her, the way he kept her secluded. Glimonasse was not too concerned about this, however she did realize that when she spoke to a certain elf, Galdrid he had called himself, Arathran would soon arrive, sending her back to the library.
For several weeks, this ritual would be repeated. That is until she inadvertently witnessed a moment of intimacy which aroused questions in the young woman's mind. Speaking to her mother, she realized that perhaps there was an aspect of her life which she had never known before. She wished to explore this, but on her own time so went to Arathran to ask him if time would be allowed for her to explore these new thoughts. The response of her mentor was sharp and decisive, "You will never fall in love. I forbid it."
Glimonasse had never even considered falling in love. She disliked people too much. But to be outright forbidden? She tried to ask questions, to try and understand Arathran's sudden outburst. However, he ordered her to the library and threatened her if she did not return to her studies declaring he was going to go fishing.
The young woman made her way to the library. She began her studies, but her mind was too clouded with questions to be of much use. The only place she had ever been calm was in the wild. So she went to her room, donned her outdoor gear and stalked her way out of Rivendell. It was several hours before it was noticed she was gone.
It was Galdrid who had returned her to Rivendell. The two spoke at length as he led her back from her flight towards Eregion. Eventually, it was decided that he would help her in her studies, standing at her side for as long as she needed. Oddly, Glimonasse was beginning to feel a strange fondness for the ancient elf.
Upon arriving in Rivendell, Arathran was there. He was quite stern with the girl, barking orders and making demands on her that Glimonasse considered strange and spiteful. Glimonasse's mother, Ionereth witnessed this and began to see Arathran in a new light. Finally she spoke, "Are you angered that a mere child was able to hide from you and sneak away, past you without your notice? Is your self-righteousness so great that no one could possibly be better than you? Your first lesson to me was that there is always someone better. I don't need you anymore."
Glimonasse left then, turning her back on Arathran. Ionereth left with her daughter.
