A Fight for Freedom
With Chaney successfully rescued from the clutches of the now dead Jagger Jack, it was time for The Bloody Dawn to make their escape. This, however, would prove harder than anticipated. For their leader may have been slain, but the brigands were nonetheless dangerous.
Some of these brigands had taken to fighting amongst themselves to ascertain whom would become a new leader of sorts. Others seemed to form rough bands and attacked the Dawn.
The men of the group led by Eroforth, and joined by Brammy, a former Blackwold himself, and Oxlaide would deal with these initial threats that would pose a problem. Whilst they fought the brigands, Taala would aid in carrying Chaney whom was all but spent of strength and spirit after her long audacious ordeal.
Taala’s expertise would be called into action when the group had reached the entrance down into the lower camp. Her expertise was that of the long bow, of which she was deadly. She started to pick off brigand one after the other whilst Eroforth and Brammy would offer melee support. This would leave Oxlaide, a towering hulk of a man whom possessed the strength of an Ox. A name that was so aptly given to him by members of the company, to aid in carrying Chaney.
His task now would be to carry the stricken Chaney out of harm’s way. Chaney as ever would not agree without her usual cold, heartless glare, and a few choice words. Even now after everything she had endured, the weeks of torture, beatings, and starvation, she would still be able to make a point of not allowing any man to tell her what to do.
Chaney was in no condition to argue mind, and Ox would simply lift her up in his large muscular arms and carry her over to the broken ruined wall, the entrance down into the lower camp. Here he would drop her down ever so gently and take up the fight again with his comrades in arms. Together they would continue to eliminate any brigand whom would oppose them.
The lower camp battle would prove easier going as Taala had now given Chaney the sword that Fiontann had crafted for her; so as she could use it as a walking aid. This would allow Taala to fight alongside the men whilst Chaney could slowly make her way following her friends.
A sudden turn of events at the lower camp entrance would prove, after everything that Chaney had endured at the hands of Jack and the brigands, that she still had that killer instinct in her. Taala had stumbled and fallen at the entrance, after her leg that The Grey Warden had hit with an arrow previously suddenly buckled underneath her.
Eroforth, Brammy, and Oxlaide were too far away to offer any aid to Taala as a brigand would almost be upon the fallen girl. It was at this moment that Chaney proved her deadly skill even though she was severely injured. The sword she had taken from Taala, she would use as if it were a dagger. Without hesitation she threw it with deadly precision piercing the brigand with it straight through the neck, instantly dropping him.
The others for a brief moment would look in amazement at this act of swiftness as almost within a blink of an eye Chaney had launched the weapon, killed the brgiand, and aided her friend.
The last remaining brigands were soon dispatched by the company and they had finally made their escape out into the Chetwood………
