In preparations for Moria

Elufer finally sat down in her airy study in Imladris, contemplating on the mystery of Geodes, and on the Dwarves with their thick beards.

Her pilot journey has been planned out completely, and she decided to rest one last time before departure. There were a lot of unanswered questions about the mysterious geodes. Their properties seemed immense and surely dangerous for some careless experimenter. The main questions nagged be on the back of her mind: is there enough power available to The Wyld Hunt to be able to uncover the geode’s potential? Was there enough capacity in them to be able to invoke this power? She looked into distance, filled with thought, toying a curiousity in her hand - a Dunlending Rhi Helvarch carving. She had set it on her desk before packing. It watched Hiril writing her packing list and sorting her runes. The air in the room was filling with refreshing ozone, and the Elven flute carried a pleasant melody through an open window.

Packing list for Moria

Backpack:

rune-carving travel kit: chisel, diamond-point chisel for stronger materials, hammer, sander, convex lense

Rope (30 yards)

Sharp knife

a few bandages soaked in Athelas brew and dried

small leather-bound journal and three charcoal pencils

two waterskins, filled with water in Rivendell

Lembas (4)

needle and thread

A spare set of light armour: tunic, light leggings and light knee-high leather boots, all crafted by RIvendell tailors

a rough map of Moria (probably from Shemkel’s scouting expedition)

Additions to the Rune satchel:

Geode sample (from Svaroh)

Light in the Darkness Rune-stone - a piece of charcoal imbued with runes of sun, fire, wisdom and hope. It is set within an obsidian holder - Elufer has crafted this rune-stone for one specific purpose - to give light in the darkness, whether it be literally a pitch-black cave or a situation where she might need to save her life and limb

Beryl - a spare gem, in case she will need to carve some minor rune-stone of hope to support her spirits.

Elufer will be wearing her prized possession - the Cloak of the Falling Leaves. It has been crafted by Lothlorien Elves. It is light and spacious, and can serve as a blanket to wrap Elufer for the time of rest. It is green in daylight, but greys down significantly in twilight. Her light tunic is belted at waist. Short leather vest above the tunic has numerous pockets which Elufer intends to use for collection purposes. The Elven leggings are light but they must provide enough protection from sharp rocks. Fine leather gloves and supple leather knee-high boots protect the extremities.

Suil vain, Elufer!
