When asked about his past this man divulges very little save that he served as a captain in the East before migrating to the west. He only comments on his current position in the Company.  He is the sort to listen more than speak with honest interest.

What is known about him, among friends and allies, is that Altheric served as a man-at-arms and captain of a small company of troops that helped put down a small goblin uprising near the hills surrounding Dale. He married into the nobility of Rohan, where his company was valued ally of the Westemnet. His company, victorious and celebrated for years, was defeated and destroyed in a skirmish with orcs at the borders of Rohan. While he was in captivity of the orcs, his homestead in the Wilderlands  was raided. His children were dashed upon rocks and his wife, unable to save their children, committed herself to death by hanging. He left the lands of the East and began a life in Bree as a fisherman.

He was until very recently wanted in Rohan. The details of his pardon are not known.
