So here I sit writing in this little book, hoping no one comes too close. I'm still not too comfortable in my new skin. I've gotten to the next town over and rented a room. Last night before I got into town though, I cut my hair short and wrapped a few of my extra shirts around my stomach to hide what little I have so far. I gave my name as Amus, as far as the inn keeper is concerned I'm a young lad looking for work as a guard for any caravan going the opposite way that I came. I just hope I can pull off being a young lad, I know my skills with my blades are good enough to play the part and my hands are callused enough from my metal work, but I have no idea how a lad walks or talks.
For now, I have tried to mimic the boys I grew up with in town, looking at the pretty girls as they walk by and boasting about their skill. I dread the thought of someone getting too close to me though. How will I get time to bath while on the road? Most of the men I see walk in groups to piss over the hills and I have no idea how to manage that so far. I must figure something out! For now I need to get some rest and ply for my new trade before the caravans depart in the morn.
