Journey Through the Dark

In Echad Dunann, I heard deep voices of a company of dwarves accompanied by the sounds of hoofs of fine steeds. There at last, Master Raggolgrimbob was come with a company of dwarves and riders from Rohan. Master Barkgrim was also there, the best thing about this dwarf is that his cheeks turn to the same colour as his beard when he gets angry so I always help him to achieve his best.

Irwthryth was the captain of the riders who at first felt uncomfortable with my presence, thus I said:

"Fear not of me for I am neither a mighty warrior nor a agile hunter but just a maid at the service of a wise Lord."

Thus my words set their hearts at ease, as children they are, easy to scare and easy to befriend. Yet their hearts are wild and free, uncorrupted and untouched by the Shadow.

In the distance I heard the footsteps of Awiergan's beloved steed. Thus I made the company await which was about to depart. There he was at sight at last, riding towards us under the sun, over the ruined lands of Nan Sirannon. We greeted each other with much joy and set on the journey...

All were silent and at unease while we walked around the Black Pool. I said no words about it, for fear would lessen their courage. Yet I feared Barkgrim's grumble would awaken that which lies beneath the waters, even down in the depths of Moria.

By the Gates of Moria we stopped. Bob's wonder and curiosity is a joy to see. Pity it was daytime and the carvings on Durin's Gates were unseen. Star of Feanor along with the Forge of Durin... Once glory of our folks...

Thus we entered the mines. The works of the Nornwaith do amaze me at every corner. Yet I feel foulness in the air, and down below us. This journey through the dark which I had failed to dare for long has turned into a joyful adventure for me. The dwarves will sure continue tomorrow yet I cannot tell the same for the young ones... They need to rest after striding Durin's Threshold and all the tunnels. Unless they fail to wake up when the dwarves desire to go on the journey, I might borrow Bob's harp to awaken them from thier sleep. This should work.

And I think I finished Awiergan's wine.

Thus Rildheldiel finishes writing and falls to sleep while Raggolgrimbob is singing:

The mountain throne once more is freed!
O! wandering folk, the summons heed!
Come haste! Come haste! across the waste!
The king of friend and kin has need.
Now call we over mountains cold,
'Come back unto the caverns old'!
Here at the Gates the king awaits,
His hands are rich with gems and gold.
The king is come unto his hall
Under the Mountain dark and tall.
The Worm of Dread is slain and dead,
And ever so our foes shall fall!
