Captain's Quick Report: The Rory and Gaby Project plays atop The High King

The ‘Rory and Gaby Project’ are composed of several musicians; whom together travel and share their music of choice through performances across many varied lands.  Of this group, there today was Miss Bilbeto Longburrow, Miss Toadflax Nosely, Miss Acorne Oakley, and Lady Carthien Merlin – the former three of the race of Hobbits, and the latter of Elven-kind. (Note: A past memory of the group performing in the Shire also brings to mind the recollection that Hobbits' Master Potty and Miss Anerra were also known to have helped out the band in the role of musicians as well!)

Having performed before in other lands -- and even in the Michel Delving, at the weekly Bird and Baby Yard Party, surely if memory serves me right -- their experience together and apart (for they each also contribute often as members in other bands and music groups) made for a most exciting undertaking; to play their music here in Evendim today, where High King’s Crossing sits just after the Lake Evendim begins to form into the Brandywine River.

Though this report may be less detailed about the music and songs themselves than usual, as I (with overwhelming joy, however) took to working alongside two other individuals of outstanding quality in assisting folks to reaching the event venue itself; where the musicians and crowd were high above where the Rangers camped below the Colossus safeguard the ways.  With Captain Kalibane of the Order of the White Flame stationed above to assist with guiding (through use of a summoning horn many experienced Captains are issued throughout Middle-Earth) those attempting to scale the structure (the rope available is quite a used, and fickle thing for some!), the Hobbit known as Miss Sase of the Little Wanderers and myself stayed below to greet potential visitors arriving to the site for the concert, and signal Captain Kalibane above us when guests below were in need of assistance.

And though the chosen location was more remote compared to most known events advertised well among the major settlements of Middle-Earth and the Free Peoples (many taking place mostly in Bree, or the thriving communities within the Shire-bounds), there did arrive quite a sizable gathering of visitors and faces intent on listening to the Rory and Gaby Project play.

So alas while sketchings or even descriptive report on the actual songs played, or atmosphere of the crowd during the proceedings, cannot be penned by myself this time, it is with great certainty still that my observations indicate a very enjoyable time was had by many of those whom attended; for their smiles and farewells as they climbed down back to earth from high above the statue – it seemed clear the combination of music, scenery, location, and audience assembled had stirred many hearts to cheering warmth.  And all after the clouds and rain set in about halfway through the gathering as well!

Luckily, alongside the few sneaking sketches I managed to roughly draw while making a brief inspection of how the event was going, close to when encores were beginning to take place, there have been some fine paintings and drawings made by Miss Toadflax and Miss Acorne themselves as well; which they shared with me after the last of the guests had climbed down the rope and departed back for their homes or other business elsewhere.  And some fine ones they are too – theirs mostly show a time when the sun was still warm, and the skies clear with a beautiful view towards Lake Evendim and other surrounding landscape about High King’s Crossing.  These, as with my meager collection this time around, shall be attached to this early report for your viewing convenience back the Grey Repository Archives, Master Reader.

Fantastic work, musicians of the Rory and Gaby Project!  Your love for music and no doubt strong friendship with one another sparks great inspiration that carries into your efforts, your audience, and the ideas your imaginations unfurl – such as choosing Evendim as a performance location!  Where shall you play next?  Oh where will they play next indeed!

Signed,

Captain Naismithea Willarc

P.S.

In addition to the warm thank you to those whom assisted with guiding folks to the musicians performing -- another strong thanks goes toward most generous friends and allies (Master Orloss, Master Silon, Miss Dassa and Miss Toadflax among them) that tested in previous months, the use and restrictions of a Captain's [Finely Carved Rallying Horn].  Their help unlocked a further understanding of how far the sound ranged, and how well it might work in guiding visitors to High King's Crossing for the musical event itself today here in Evendim.  (( Player level must be minimum Level 15 to be summoned into Evendim, etc. ))

P.S.S.

It seems business and many new affairs, both of personal matters but some also of Middle-Earth -- may soon take my attention, and less time will be available to truly do as I would have wished!  Busy work, and an ever-changing life seems to be a staple of this ol' Bree Captain's schedule... but perhaps I shall wait a little longer before finalizing my potential new schedule likely to take hold for the next year and more.  After all, there are still exciting things throughout Middle-Earth always arising -- next Month there are tales continuing to grow about Hobbits choosing a Shire May Queen in the first week, and of course further details about the Forest of OAKS in the Shire village of Oldfurlong is still to be anticipated!  There is also an open concert planned in the Gundalaf neighbourhood by the White Flames planned for the next immediate week as well, so I recall being told.  Perhaps related posters will soon be attached to the local event listings throughout the towns and major settlements of Middle-Earth.
