Lothlorien

Letters From Middle-earth

Author:
Written by Cesistya, kept by her family in Lothlorien

Curious by nature, the young Elf-scholar left the safe borders of Lórien to explore Middle-earth and learn what she could. Timid also by nature, she would spare a bit of parchment, and some crumbs of lembas, to write a letter to her family, sent by the swift wing of a friendly bird. As Cesistya did not keep a journal, these Letters form the only hard-copy account of her journey.

Diary

It has been several weeks since I left my home, and my eyes have been opened. I cannot say I don't miss Lothlorien, but the outside world is so new. Really, every step I take, I see something I have only heard of in storybooks, even if it is only a new variety of toxic mushroom. Of course, I hope one day to return home, but only after I have my fill of stories! And I am not sure if that will ever occur.

Unsent Letter #396

Sídhanar,

Long has it been since we walked side by side between the great mellyrn together; you, telling me stories of events that have long since passed and the distant lands they took place in.

Faorie stared upwards at the dark sky. The canopies of Lothlorien glowed naturally - the lamps, lanterns, and crystal ropes glistened with soft light. Light breezes brushed against the two elves and the rustle of rolling leaves created a proper atmosphere for their discussion. "You have encountered a significant amount of key events in our kind's history," she said gently with a faint smile on her face, "I have only read of these tales from books of lore found in libraries throughout Rivendell and Lothlorien. It is an experience in and of itself."

Anarwe smiled. "For sucha young elf as you say, you show the wisdom of the eldest of the Noldor."
Faorie smiles notably wider.
"Our people took the long journey under the leadership of our king, Finwe," he began, "We were to reach a land the Eldar could call home. All the clans did so, so many years ago. Alas, some were afraid to brave the frozen lands of Helcaraxe and decided to return... they are the silvan elves of Mirkwood. Cousins of your kin.
