Unlike most of his kin, Rhamdir’s stately and statuesque regard is softened by the curve of his smile. Subtle though it may be, it belies a tenderness rarely seen in the waning days of the Elves. Prominent cheekbones, a round and dimpled face, and freckles only faintly visible on golden skin are all obscured by the dark tresses of hair that fall artfully loose from being pulled back. His eyes are dark as well; dark and warm with flecks of gold like burnt honey when the light hits them just right. He is of average height for an elf, and a particularly tall man could loom over him with little trouble, if they so desired. In recent days, Rhamdir is seen in his armor or traveling clothes; finely made yet practical, it is the adornments of shawl and silks that reveal a taste for things of delicate make.
Gentle in manner and mind, Rhamdir is quick to compassion and slow to ire. Though quiet, and at many times reserved, his reluctance to speak of himself does not hinder him from speaking with others. He is in awe of the world around him, be it that of the natural or of craft. He is fondest of beautiful flowers, the knotwork of sailors, and the wide open Sea. Despite the ease with which he holds himself, there is a distant sadness in his eyes—and that tugs on his lips—when asked about the open waters of the Belfalas. |

Background
Born and raised in Edhellond, Rhamdir was spurned by his parents at a young age for a dispute that could not be reconciled. Instead he sought comfort amongst those in whom he could find friendship, meager scraps as they often were. Among those who embraced him wholeheartedly in their youth was Calear, and to her, to this day, Rhamdir finds himself greatly indebted. It was at her side that he learned his love of the sea, and that he learned to strengthen his hands in the knotwork of sailors, and that he learned to bid a seafaring vessel to his will—though he greatly preferred to let others take the helm, lest he should miss the sights as they pass by.
Before the Kingdom of Gondor was established, there were men who settled the land down the coast. Rhamdir visited them often, and in his youth he came to harbor love for a woman among them. Doomed, as it were, for the very same sea that he had known and cherished swelled up one night and stole the woman away. Rhamdir, in his grief, forswore the open waters—and after a falling out with Calear, he declared he would never set foot upon a seafaring ship again.
With the loss of Amroth and Nimrodel, Edhellond was eventually abandoned. There are some elves who remain, however; the Avorrim who watch from homes made in caves along the coastline. Rhamdir is one among them, who waits and watches the shore, guarding his old home. Some say that he suffers from the sea-yearning of the elves, while others claim it is his lost love that keeps him tethered. Regardless of his purpose, he lingers, and continues to love the world as it is given to him.
